How many children?....

I have 2 girls and when the second girl came along I had loads of people asking me if I am going to try for a boy. Why would I want one? I'm quite happy with my 2 girls. I'm effectively going to have 3 girls soon as my boyfriend has a daughter too.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Ooo - this old chestnut!!
From the moment we married we were asked when were we having children.
Telling them I was infertile certainly shut them up!!
We'd been married a good few years before we adopted two children.
Ideally I'd want 4 - but unfortunately neither of our families agree and we'd need their 'support' to support an application to adopt more. So its just the 4 of us.
What ever the size of your family you will always receive comments regarding children....."A simple life freely chosen is a source of strength. Do not be pursuaded into buying what you do not need or cannot afford." Quaker Faith & Practice 1.02.410 -
As soon as we got married we had relentless questioning about when we would have a baby. We were trying unsuccessfully for years and these comments made me so anxious I starting to avoid going out. It increased stress-levels hugely that people felt they could ask about something so private that was causing us so much upset.
Luckily for us we had a successful IVF, then a bonus freebie - both boys and now people keep saying "but you will try for a girl won't you?" We're so thrilled to have what we've got but it obviously doesn't show!
It taught me never to ask anyone, you never know what people are going through.0 -
I'm the oldest of seven children age 44,43,42,40,38,29 and 24. When my mum was having my brother I was 15 and sooo embarrassed!! I still get the old "didn't you have TV" quip but I wouldn't be without my gang of siblings. Family get togethers are so much fun. My Mum and Dad celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary tomorrow. We went out today and bought them lunch-a lot cheaper if you can split it seven ways :rotfl: I have two children boy age 15, girl age 11. I do get broody when I see a new baby still but think I'm a bit too old at 44. Never say never tho;)0

Ohhhh I get exactly the same, I have 3 sons and it drives me mad when people assume it was because we wanted a girl that we went for a third, we had 3 children because we wanted 3. Just as some women don't want any, some want one or two and so forth, it's a personal choice. We've just had our third son, and we're sick too, of "is this it now?" "oh, what a shame it's not a girl"etc
No, it's not a shame, we have 3 beautiful, healthy sons, where's the shame in that?
If "pink" had descended on our house, then that too would have been wonderful.
In answer to the OP though - as many as you both want, can look after and afford.0 -

Same here BS. I have two boys and people wind me up asking if i am disappointed that i don't have a girl. I wanted boys anyway so i got my wish. DH has recently had vasectomy as we decided we didn't want anymore. Now people are constantly saying we can get it reversed if we decided we want to try for a girl. If we hadn't been sure and made the decision for all the right reasons then he wouldn't have had it done.
Sorry rant over. People just make me so mad butting in.

I've been asked the same thing!! Couldn't believe it! I'm used to the 'haven't you got a TV?' and 'Worked out why it keeps happening yet?' comments, but 'Are they all his?' really threw me  For the record, yes, they are!
We have 5, with 8 years difference between the youngest and the eldest. I would love to have another, but I don't think we will as we really can't afford to.0 -
