I have 3 part-time DDs from OH's 'practice' marriage (love that term too!)
I would like 1 of my own in a few years. I don't think i'll have more than 1 cos effectivly it makes 4 which is plenty!!0 -
I had dd when I was just 18, she wasn't planned and it took her dad and I a long time to feel ready, both emotionally and financially, to have another baby so there are 8 years between dd and ds.
From about the time dd was 2 we had to put up with the "when are you going to have another one" and as she got a bit older it changed to "only children don't mix well you need another baby" then when we decided we were ready for another child we got "ooh what do you want to do that for, you are over the sleepless nights you don't want to start that again"
When I got pg people happily predicted all the problems we would have with dd adjusting to the "intruder" and how she would hate the baby on sight.
the long and short if my post is, tell 'people' to mind their own bloody business because every family is different. They are never happy and know jack !!!!!! anyway

Just wondered how many children people have.
We only have one at the moment - I get so many people ask me "when you having another" or how many "more" would I like. Well I am actually quite happy with just the one. Lots of people seem to delight in telling me though that I can't possibly have just one, which really tends to wind me up.
Any views would be appreciated
Hypocrite holding her hand up meekly here...
I used to think it was a bit cruel to just have one child. Afterall, how lonely would that be for the child? That was what I though until I started a family with a muppet and got divorced just after my first child's first birthday!
My son's everything I could hope for in a child so in some ways, I wouldn't want to rock the boat! The old wive's tale goes that you have one dream baby then one little horror so as he was a dream baby I'd rather not tempt fate LOL. I wouldn't be happy having half-siblings either because I had a bad experience growing up of inequality amongst siblings and wouldn't want to take the risk.
Don't worry about other people's ideals of what it means to be a family; they're probably not being mean but simply forming an opinion based on their own experiences. I came from a large chaotic family and thought that's what a family was until I wound up a lone parent to an only child. Now I realise how wonderful it can be having an intimate family - it's like we share a secret and a joke that no-one else gets and I love how close we are and how much time we have to spend together. My son's not lonely at all!
There are hundreds of advantages and disadvantages to having no kids, one kid or ten kids so I really do think it's up to the individual to decide what they want out of life.
If you like your life and love your family then don't let what other people think get in the way of that.0
