I agree with all the comments about the waste of space on the LH side. Even if other items appear to the left of the messages, there surely won't be enough to fill a whole page of posts ... I think I, too, would like to see the menu items run across the top of the board rather than down the LH side, allowing the full width of the screen (mine's only a 14"-er!!
) to be used for the posts.
I note that we have also lost the www, Instant Message and email links which used to appear under people's usernames and avatars. I'd like those back! I found it interesting to look at folks' websites.
The point made above about screen resolution is a good one. I found the overall layout more pleasing when I switched to 1024x768, but the text becomes almost unreadable on my tiny screen, so I'm sticking to 800x600 until someone offers a nice 19" TFT screen in the Freebies section!!Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

p.s my "IT head" is curious...were these site changes tested pre-interface on such a low spec monitor , whose measurements we have been asked to no longer discuss! ;) 8)
Wonder how many MSE'rs are still using this size monitor (I am for the time being at home). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Martin,
How about a Health and Diet board???0 -
Chipz, health is currently included within the families board. I don't think a whole board devoted to just health would get many viewings. :-/0

Sheel,
cheers did not realise that.
I think ahealth and diet board would be a good idea, i mena why not we have insurance, travel etc. It does not have to be to discuss particular health problems, more money saving tips related to health and diet etc. For example, the latest offers on at H&B. ..anyway it was just a suggestion of mine...0 -
I have suggested a motoring board, because lots of the threads left on 'your tips' are about motoringI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. BTW
I love the new layout, it probably helps that I have an 18" monitor but It's great that I can see so much more on the screen now the site can be stretched,
I've also tried it on the other pc's in the house and even on the 15" monitor it looks better, I don't have to use the scroll bar along the bottom unless a thread contains a wide post due to a long url.
It will be even better if the margin is narrowed slightly, and hopefully we will get Tony H's sliding menu too.
I must admit I originally looked at it and said 'oh NO' but that is because I love the site so much I didn't see the need for any change and didn't want any. After a few days though I'm hardly noticing it and if I do it's only to think this looks so much better, give it time ;DI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
