LOTS OF SITE CHANGES! PLEASE FEEDBACK

There's a raft of changes planned for today

i. The new 'navigation bar' on the front page
ii. The articles section is segmented
iii. Changes to come in here - will be obvious when they happen
iv. Changes to page widths
v. Lots more articles on the front page
vi. The return of the quick drop menu
vii. The main site search now allows speech marks - so you can now search more accurately
viii. There's now a new sign up page for the email which explains what to do if you can't get the email

edit: Just joking but to be honest I don't go there often enough to notice many changes. Like the green panel at the top with the links, really stands out.

The articles are a lot easier to naviagte now, the long list of before was a bit to much.

Also the green band stands out well against the page.

All good so far. ;D

Posted the above and it was all change again.

Not sure about the menu to the left. but its just cos its new and not used to it. I think that it is just lazyness at the moment as used to be able to naviagte page with my eyes closed, now all the widths have changed.

why on earth do we need the left hand column when everything can be got to by clicking 'MAIN SITE' ???
Now for the majority of a scroll down the page is ten left/right and you have an empty margin on the left.............................yuk :-/

A couple of things.

First i dont know about the site jigging around it doesnt with me so im confused by that.

Let me explain the chat room change.

Many people link into the Chat Forum - it is an integral part of the site. The way it looked before it looked separate and lots of people didnt know it was part of a bigger main site. It's very important for the site to retain visitors the main tool for this is the e-mail.

The new change is just the start. The empty space underneath the links on the left will be filled in time by links to the top articles. This is currently a work in progress.

I know it will look strange at first, but i'm sure you'll get used to it very quickly. The other thing to note is you can now stretch the chat room if you increase the size of your window - so you can see more at one time.

Having the chat as part of the main site is very important and is a necessary change - i knew someo f you wouldn't like it at first, but i think you'll soon forget to notice it (bit like the blue links).

I wasnt willing to do this until the navigation of the main site was fixed - ie the new big green bar. Soon on every page, in the header (the bit next to my pic) both on the main site and the chat room - it will have a mini version of the green bar so people can link from subject to subject.

Ok, I am going to be honest .... sorry if it upsets anyone :-/

I don't like the big margin on the side Maybe you could put links there to other MSE forums.

But I do like that there is a clear link to the forums from the home page now  ;D
