pc world problem

I take it you were incapable of reading the agreement as well then, or let me guess you didn't bother.
I was young and naive at the time. I let the rep tell me everything I thought I needed to know and never questioned the lies he told me. Although I realise salesmen will try and add features and benefits into their sales speech I never thought they could lie so blatently.
I have admitted fault and learned my lesson since however, this doesn't take away the fact that it was mis-selling at its best and the reps at PC World seem to have the same lies to tell everyone with the hope of landing another sale.0 -
Never heard of this rentsmart before but - blimey - £38 pounds a month for 2 years - so that's £912 (more than what it's worth no doubt) in total and you don't even get to keep it
Can't believe such a scheme is allowed to exist.0 -

This weakens your position considerably. However your biggest problem is that the contract has been allowed to run for so long, she has had a whole year to read it and failed to do so. Had she complained within days of taking out the contract, she may have been able to persuade them to allow her to cancel it, but there really is no excuse for not reading the contract for so long.0 -
Wow - they are giving BrightHouse a run for their money price wise
As far as ops situation is concerned, the above post is pretty spot on. It's been waaaay too long to be able to now dispute the contract or get any kind of refund. Disputing it just days after would be difficult enough with them having signed documentation in their hand - let alone a year.0 -

Because it's fully tax deductible and Business Rentsmart is actually not too shabby (you can, like I said purchase it outright at the end for pennies on the pound).0 -

I wouldn't say pennies. After paying £42 per month for 2 and a half years I had 6 months left on my contract. I rang them for an early settlement and had to pay over £400.
Bear in mind this item was £899 back in 2009 so hardly a small amount. When I asked if I carried on paying the remaining 6 months until it ended how much would I have to pay, the cost was in the region of £250.
The whole scheme is a con and I'm not surprised that the PCWorld reps lie to you about it. If they'd try to sell it explaining the true T's & C's nobody would sign up for it0 -

The settlement figure means you would be paying £148 for the product. So about 7% of the total rental cost. Not majorly expensive in comparison to the overall package I guess.0 -
well just been speaking to my mom to get more detals, she said that when she went to get the laptop she had her bank card out to pay for the laptop out right but the assistant stopped her and said that this is a better deal.
I have also been into a different pc world store and asked about this. I was told that wheather its on infinity or buisness it goes through rentsmart (no mention of non business customers on rentsmarts website) she also said that a year ago there was no cooling off period and the second you put your signiature on the contract you cant get out of it0 -
It's probably worth my saying my views are not that of Dixons retail (so they don't sue / sack)
Rentsmart is a company Dixons uses to provide customers with leasing agreements. Personal leases fall under the "Infinity" agreement, which is what your mother has got.
The infinity agreement is a leasing contract that has no cooling off period.
The price you pay includes Loss, Fire, Theft and Accidental Damage insurance. A free 24 hour help line and Norton for two years.
(It's changed now but that's what you'll have)
The infinity agreement is great for those who want to keep up to date and are constantly renewing their tech.
Rentsmart is all in all not a con. Yes it seems recently there have been a select few that appeared to have mis-sold it generally speaking the people that are interested in rentsmart, are interested for a reason (business or personal)
If you still have your paperwork feel free to get in contact with letusknow@knowhow.com and give them your Infinity Agreement number. If you have lost this then give 0844 561 1234 (local rate) a call and they will find it for you.0 -

I doubt Currys provide Insurance for loss, I wish people would stop calling Currys cover Insurance as it's not Insurance but some tax avoidance scheme they have dreamed up to the detriment of their customers0
