Hi all, I would like to ask about canelling a contract with pc world.
Basicly my mom has got a laptop 1 year ago paying £38 per month for 2 years (i know a lot). She fully thought that at the end of the 2 years the laptop would be hers. However she took it in for a health check on tuesday. When she went back for it today it was not ready but the assistant said that this contract is renting the laptop.
She was never made aware that it is for rent and she has said to me when she got the laptop a year ago the assistant was preasureing her and saying that this was the best deal for her. As she does not now much about computers she belived her.
She now does not want the laptop or the contract and fully belives she has been robbed and i agree
can this contract be canceled for misleading?
can she get her money back paid?

She certainly will not get any money back.
If she has been renting this thing, then she must of course pay the rent.
Can the contract be terminated early?
No idea... what does her documentation say?
Was the salesman misleading?
Even if he was, after a year how is anyone going to confirm that?
I find it difficult to believe that your mother did not get documentation explaining exactly that the arrangement was a rental agreement.
You mother would be wise to read that documentation now to discover what sort of get out is available.
Maybe there is a possibility that the laptop can be retained at the end of the term for a small fee.0 -

What's your problem, Wealdrom's post was factual and correct.
Post some links for the OP. That would help more than
being offensive to other posters.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
What does the contract she signed say?0

This forum has also had lots of posts where people have had problems with energy suppliers, hire car companies, courier companies etc.
Because of this are we to automatically assume that anyone who posts on here regarding a problem with one of these types of companies has been misled, or do you think that it's better to wait until more facts have been disclosed?0 -
Sorry, did I interrupt the thread that was turning into a mudslinging match?
Anyway, OP's mother should read the documentation and then come back and give more information.0 -
Sounds like your Mum got caught by the Rentsmart scam at PC World, do a search for Rentsmart on the forums to find out more.0
