  • Hello and i am hoping for some of the golden advice that is around,:rotfl:

i have just recived all of my paper work from Lloyds Tsb with all of my charges, after looking into them all, i have noticed £231.91 intotal that is described as, 0/draft intrest and usage fees.

( also do i ask for account fees aswell? )

i am not sure if i should ask for these back with intrest.

my total is over £1200 dating back to 1st september 01.

thank you in advance for your replys and thank you martin for helping everyone take on the banks.

    russell.

This is my first post and hoping you guys can help me out a little bit.
My other half has started the process of claiming back charges from his account. We have received copies of charges on his account dating back to September 2002. My question is do we try and claim back every charge that is listed or can we only claim certain ones? Sorry if this question has been answered many a times, i just want to check we are doing things right! Thanks in advance!

A & L closed my bank account in march 2006 and charged me a £15 admin fee for doing so, also since they closed it I have set up an agreement with them through CAB, but for every payment i make each month they add on interest, can I claim this back as the account is closed and the outstanding figure that is on there is ALL Unlawful Charges, I have finally today received my statements regarding this account. . . :T

Get your 6 years details from them and reclaim every single charge. If their charge took you into overdraft and it consists entirely of charges (not your own spending) then you can reclaim the interest on the overdraft too. You should carry on paying your arrangement in the meantime to avoid a default on your credit record but you will get it back.

The following is a list of charges you can and cant claim for. Thanks to Rex_Mundi for the original post.

    CAN BE CLAIMED

    Account misuse fee
    Cheque return fee
    Card misuse fee
    Unarranged borrowing fee
    Unauthorised overdraft fee
    Unpaid DD fee
    Unpaid cheque fee
    Unpaid standing order fee
Late payment fee (credit cards, store cards, catalogues etc)
    Exceeding Authorised Overdraft Limit
    Exceeding Unauthorised Overdraft Limit
    Direct Debit/Standing Order/Cheque returned fee
    Irregular fee
    Paid refferal fee
Total charges (HSBC personal accounts only, not business accounts)

    CANNOT BE CLAIMED

    Cash Machine Withdrawl Fees
    Account Service Charges
    Service Fee / Annual Fee
Charges related to foreign currency transactions and conversions.
Monthly account fees on certain type of accounts.
    Normal overdraft interest charges

Different banks may have named their charges differently to the above list so anything you arent sure of check the charge with the bank and what it is for and of course ask in the forum.

    Good luck :)

Thank you Twinkley, me and OH were only expecting this account to be £300 max, turns out it is £680.00 + £73.30 (int) = £753.00 :T , just rang him at work he's shocked, god knows what the other account is going to be like from them that was loads worse. I am going to recalculate now with all the interest that they have took out, it will bump it up abit

You can't claim interest unless the charges put you into overdraft. Watch that they do not say you are a bad risk and post a bad credit report.

Tozer, Thank you for getting back to me.
I have done a letter to them and i am about to post it off to them, I have added the interest purely because the account is closed and why should I be paying interest for an account that no longer exists, plus all of the outstanding balance that is on my account are charges from them to me, none of them are from me going out and spending it, so I beleive I should claim this back off them. I will let you know what the out come of it is.
I checked my credit report last week and every thing looks good on there (suprising) as I have got into quite abit of debt through A&L charging unlawful charges, yes I know I shouldnt of gone overdrawn, but I was 6mths pregnant, just been made redundant, no one would employ me, and my OH was gambling, started off "I Hope" to try and bring in extra money, got a bit addicted and ended up in a right mess, I am currently paying everyone back that I owe money to from this time bad patch in my life.
I dont make a habit of going overdrawn, I am 25yrs old and there is about 1.5 - 2 yrs that was a bad patch for going overdrawn, Only with A&L though, i now have 2 bank accounts elsewhere so i am not worried that I will get bad credit score so no one will let me open an account with them, the only other things i would need a good credit for is a) mortgage, already got so that is fine and b) finance, but being in debt makes you appreciate money more, so I will be getting no store cards, credit cards, finance, loans etc etc again.

I have just read the whole of this thread and found the answer to 1 of my questions, but I cant figure out the answer to my other 1, so hopefully someone with more experiance on this subject might be able to help.

I have just trawled through o/h's statements which arrived today with a highlighter,it's a NatWest Advantage Gold account.
    most charges obvious(unpaid DD, cheques etc..), found out on here he can claim the refferal charges back,but there a number of entries usually just after the intrest which read;
    Charges date/Ac no £ammount charged
    these charges range from £9 - £37
Does anyone know what these are & if they are reclaimable?

Many thanks in advance for any help recieved:beer:
Keep up the good work & well done to those who have already had success:T
