What is the difference between normal overdraft interest charges and unauthorised, how do i tell the difference?May - Sex and the City tickets. June - £5 spar voucher, July - Sally Hansen nail shine & miracle set, mccains garden games, August - ERB Spa goody bag worth over £1000 -
NoJust found a list from the bank which explains some of these charges, but i still dont know if they can be claimed for.
They are;
Account maintenance charge/fixed fee - £5.75
other automated debits
cheques & other debits
manual credits
cheques paid in branches
cash paid in at branches
TOTAL = £24.28
To be charged on 28/2/07, the funny thing is when I went through the statements recieved today to double check this, the ammount shown as charges on the 28/2/07 was £40.00
Just rescued more old bank letters from the fireplace & it would seem there should be 2 charges for that date the £24.28 mentioned above & £40 made up of £12 Advantage gold subscription & £28 unauthorised borrowing fee.
Think I will be getting o/h to switch bank to one that doesnt have so many extra charges, any recommendations?BARGAINADDICT

Hi,
I just had my 6 years of statements through from barclays this morning.
I wanted to check what charges I can claim. On the statements I've found charges like this:-
UNAUTH O/D FEE £20
and
UNPAIDS OUT
1 @ £25
I guess I can claim these back. Are there any others I should be looking for?
Thx folks

Hi All, I'm new to this site and concept so please excuse my ignorance. I have a business current account with HSBC and have recently taken the first step to reclaiming unlawful bank charges by requesting statements for the last 6 years. The charges appear on the statements as one total, and my understanding is that these include lawful service charges, ie, for payments and withdrawals and unlawful charges for going overdrawn, etc. Can anybody please offer advice on how I can find out or calculate the lawful/unlawful charges to help me to proceed to the next stage of recovery?
Many thanks,

Hi,
Just opened my bank statement this morning and seen a charge for "Charge for clearing VISA payment while overdrawn". I'm sure I haven't been over drawn for a start, but anyway ... I've had a look at the list of things you can / can't claim for, but counldn't see this on there. Can anyone pls tell me whether I can claim for this?
Thanks in advance."Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow."0 -
I have had the second reply from re default charges, they stated ' This does not apply to you as the charges incurred were for dealing with your request to go over your agreed overdraft limit. They are not default charges because you havn't broken your agreement. They are our prices for the service we provide in these situations.'
Can anyone advise if this is another ploy from the banks to 'fob' us off or is it worth it carrying on???0 -

Hi,
New to the board after many months of viewing.
I am terribly scatty and over the years with various credit cards and studio cards etc have missed several payments (usually catching up about 3 months later). The idea was when I received a bill I put it in my bag to deal with - only managing to deal with them when my bag became to heavy to carry!
Thankfully now with the help of my other half I am dealing with everything (ok well he is - oops) and have started the process for reclaiming bank account fees of around £750 (he was surprised it wasnt more over the 6 years!)
Would like to start on the credit cards etc but need to know if I can claim for missed payment charges (although I caught up eventually with the payments). Have tried to search the forum but cant find anything specific to that.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
