Unpaid Cheque means they have not paid a cheque! Either in or out of your account. If it was money going into your account the person sending you the cheque you paid in 4-5 days earlier did not have the money in their account and you need to ask them for a replacement cheque! If its a cheque going out of your account you have not had enough cleared funds in your account to pay the cheque you issued and whoever you paid the cheque to should have asked you to replace it.

Business account charges can also be claimed back in the same way personal accounts can be claimed.

The bank is fobbing you off. Take it to court and get your money back!

Im a bit confused by your post but here goes :D

Ignore what you owe or anything like that, just go through your statements, use Martins calculator & work out every charge they have applied to your account, it is your choice if you wish to go for interest also. Then send the letter, they have 14 days to reply & thats not 14 working days. If you get a reply with an offer its your choice if you take it, chances are though it will be ignored, read up on the Bank Reclaim section for timescales etc butbe prepared to do the court route, loads of people on here are in the same boat & Im more than happy to help you out as plenty others are, if your mega stuck click my name & send me a message.

    :T

Say for example your charges amount to £1000 but you have an overdraft or are in the red should we say by £700 then when your claim is successful the likely outcome is they would clear the £700 & then credit you either into your account or by cheque the other £300. Make sure your focus is on what they have charged you rather than anything else at first.

hang on a minute! I thought there was no particular time limit given on claims, once you had initiated the first steps of a claim.Purely by ASKING FOR YOUR STATEMENTS does at this point mean you have a stopwatch held as to when or if you wish to go ahead with any with any potential claim, this would also be hindered by the online court assessment anyway that all takes time anyway ! I think some of those charges may have been unlawful charges and unarranged borrowing mixed in but my knowledge on RBS charges is not hot unfortunately.
THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS it seems on scrutiny that they have me by the short and curly's as they cover thems selves by the T&C'S there may be some hope It does mean using a fine tooth comb, but it is unfortunately the situation that not reading the small print before committing yourself, when approached I took advice from staff and management for face value of trust, but in hindsight was suckered, and caught out! Hook, line and and sinker by purely stupidity, we all learn by mistakes albeit an expensive one. I am not a defeatist but fighting a lost cause makes you aware if it is really worth it ?
