  • I noticed there is nothing about bankers draft charges, Can i claim these back as well.
  • Hi,

    My name is Ben and I am trying to claim back my bank charges. I popped into Barclays to see if they would explain what it is I can claim. They have told me I cannot claim back any interest charges, however! I had an agreed overdraft limit. When I went over the agreed limit my charges were higher...can I claim these back and if so how do I work out the amount per unauthorised charges to claim as they are mixed with the standard charge?!
    Thanks for your time, I hope you can help?

    If you are able to help I'd really appreciate an email...

    Thanks again!

    Ben,
    Surely the charge should be detailed as an overlimit charge on your statements. If it is, these are the ones you need to claim

    Yes your charges would be higher as you would be paying a higher amount of interest on the charges that are over your overdraft limit.

    The bank are correct that you can't claim back the interest on your overdraft, unless you can prove the interest is charged on purely changes and not on your normal spending.

    Please read the Reclaim Help Thread for what you can and can't claim, the link is in my signature.
  • As opposed to requesting a direct answer to my question, and taking up your valuable time, I think it would be far more advantageous if you could update the above list.

    I, and I have read many others, are asking the same questions about certain Lloyds TSB charges and I have seen umpteen contradictory answers. So is it possible that you could set the record straight about these charges/fees.

    It might answer a lot of questions for a lot of people if you could list the charges as each bank words them instead of using the generic term for them.

    I'm sure that a lot of people would be very appreciative if that could be sorted.

    If it helps here are the Lloyds TSB charges that I'm aware of:
    O/DRAFT INTEREST
    O/DRAFT USAGE FEE
    O/DRAFT EXCESS FEE
    ACCOUNT CHARGE
    UNPAID S/O
    UNPAID D/D
    UNPAID CHEQUE

    Thanks in advance
  • I'm new to this site and have looked for the answer to my question, so apologies if it's already been answered :D

    Alliance & Leciester charged me a 'monthly overdraft charge' ranging from £5 to £10 on numerous occasions - can I claim this back?

    Also, can I claim back an 'overdraft arrangement fee'?

    Not sure whether the above charges come under service fees or account service charges?

    Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

    If the charge is for an 'arrangement' to provide you with and overdraft then it is a service fee and can't be claimed back

    If its a charge for going beyond the overdraft facility then you can claim it back :)

    List of charges in post 4 of the help thread

    Got It & Spent It :dance:
    IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)
    MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)
    I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)
    CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)
    BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)
    On Hold :mad:
    A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)
    BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)
    BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)
    ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)
  • I know this may have been covered a thousand times on here, but specifically can the following charges be claimed for? My mate banks with Lloyds and he has had the following charge descriptions on his statement

    "Account charges"

    "Unpaid cheques"

    "Unpaid d/d"

    "unpaid s/o"

    I would be grateful for some assistance

    Thanks
