Good luck............I was not sure whether I could claim the interest as in one of the lists of charges you could claim for it seemed that the interest was not one of them.
Sorry, not to include original message, I am clicking the box but it is not doing anything.0 -
Hi
I have just received back information from Lloyds TSB so am tryingto add up the amount to reclaim but am very confused! I have the list of what I can and can't claim for but its the way the statements are written.
Theyre not the normal statements it reads View statement entries - (account number) as a heading an then there are sheets and sheets of A4 containing in columns date type (in short), description whether a CR or a DR and amount (the ballance column is blank) a sheet number (batch number is blank)
EG:
View statement entries - (my account number)
date Type description CR/DR bal sheet no. batch no.
10/03/2003 Chg O/Draft Interest 42.84DR - 63 -
Do just add up these figures to get my answer as to how much £ they owe me or do I have to do something else?
Can anyone help me understand what I am supposed to be doing next please?
Not sure if I just add them all up, pop figure into the online calculator and send the total sum off in a letter?
If I got the figure wrong what would happen?
Thanks, I am worrying about doing this right its taking ages to get from step 1 to step 2!
Thanks
Heddwen.
Thanks

It seems to essentially be a charge on exceeding overdraft but does anyone know if because it's described as a maintenance/service charge this can also be challenged?? Many thanks
You can claim that particular charge as its only levied on months you are overdrawn.0 -

You need to read Martin's article and the Reclaim Help Thread on how to do this, you'll find a basic start guide in there too and how to use the Interest Calculator along with the dedicated Lloyds thread.

I got my final statement through before i apply for the charges to be refunded, and on it there is a £50 charge described as a Arrangement fee. Included was a detailed explanation 'Please find details of the arrangement fees that are due to be charged to your account. These fees relate to one or more informal overdraft requests you have made, which we have considered and approved........Rather than automatically decline, or bounce the items, we consider whether the level of borrowing requested is reasonable. If we conclude that you may be unable to service this extra level of borrowing, we will decline the request and may charge you a fee for considering the request'
Well I phoned them up and they told me that this charge was infact a excess overdraft fee for the day I went over my limit!!!!! Any way just thought I would let you know about this fee as I cant find it on the what charges to reclaim thread. My first request for unfair bank charges will be sent today. Thanks for all the info.0 -

Contractual interest
This is what you see on your bank statements charged by the bank when you go overdrawn. It appears on your statement as 'INTEREST', or 'INT'.
There are normally two different interest rates charged. A lower rate is charged when you are overdrawn, but still within your agreed overdraft limit. Under no circumstances can this interest be reclaimed. There is a higher rate of interest (up to 29.9%) charged when you go over your overdraft limit (unauthorised overdraft). This is a bit trickier to deal with. You cannot claim any of this interest if your spending has caused you to go over your overdraft limit, but you can claim this interest on any bank charges that have caused this. The problem with this is working out the interest only on the charges. It can be difficult to get right, and you have to be very accurate with your figures in case the bank at any stage challenges them. Generally, most people don't claim this interest.0 -
Yes you can apply for your charges with tesco credit cards a few people have won them in the success reports.0
