I don't have an overdraft facility but each month i might be short of something silly like a £1, i'm then charged £28 for maintanance fees. I have already claimed back charges against Direct Debits but i did not claim the monthly £28.
    Should i have claimed these?

on my natwest statements i have lots of charges where it just says charges £20 then the account number. can i claim these back as i think they are unarranged o/d but they just put charges for some stupid reason.??
it could mean account service charge, but surely as it just says charges they cannot prove that it is service charge or they would put service charge, am i right??

  • I've tried to search for a similar problem to mine but can't find anything.

I have already gone through the process of reclaiming bank charges from the Halifax, but did not have the money to go to court.
I now have the money to go to court however I have subsequently realized that I have also incurred a large amount of costs because I transfered some of the Debt caused by the Halifax charges onto an MBNA credit card, which I equally could not afford to pay .
Will I be able to claim the charges on my credit card back from the Halifax? Will I need to re-write to Halifax claiming these costs or could I simply go to court and add these costs in?

Hi all. I am currently backtracking my account statements. Although i am aware that i can claim back overdraft excess fees can i also claim back account charges and overdraft interest? Hope to hear from you.......

Hi Did you get any response to your question I have exactly the same on my statements and am also not sure if I can claim them or not.
  • Hi, I have been in Spain for a while now and have been drawing money out on my Barclays debit card. My brother in law brought my statements over and I was horrified to see they had charged £12 each time I drew €400 out of the cash machine and lesser charges from using the card in store. These charges now total hundreds of pounds. On speaking to them they say the charges are none reclaimable. If I was aware of these charges being incurred I would have followed their suggestion that I use Deutchebank who don't charge these fees or draw money from Barclays here in Spain (nearest branch 40 miles away). My question is can I reclaim some if not all of these fees on the basis that I was unaware of these charges?

Short answer is no and certainly not on the premise that you weren't aware of the charges.
