YesDo you think we could reclaim charges from the Student Loan Company? They 'lost' 3 deferment claims on the run even though one was sent 'signed for'. "Possibly lost between departments"was their excuse but still charged for as they claim it is not their problem, its yours to get it to them.0

YesJust to say Intelligent Finance paid up in days of sending off the first letter but have had the "they believe the charges are acceptable" standard letter back from LLoyds. Back to the printer!!0

Hi there- I'm with the clydesdale bank (not for much longer..) and I'm getting a service charge (SC on my account) of £25 and listed as a maintenance charge on correspondance, only on months when I've exceeded my overdraft limit. It seems to essentially be a charge on exceeding overdraft but does anyone know if because it's described as a maintenance/service charge this can also be challenged?? Many thanks0

hi i dont think that you can claim for service charges its just what i read i have claimed for my credit card company annual charges to read at a later date that i could'nt claim it it would be nice though as these are high charges "dont qoute me on it it is just what i read"0 -
natwest have informed me, after i rang them, that it will take 8 weeks for them to let me know what they are going to do about my charges request. i put on the letter i will expect a letter in 14 days but i have received nothing, so should i just wait 8 weeks for them to send me a letter saying no you cant have your money or any other suggestions please???
You gave them 14 days, so give them 14 days.
If you want to deal with this via the Financial Ombudsman then wait the statutory 8 weeks. If you want to take the court route then give them the 14 days.
If you are going to put time limits in your letters then you need to follow them.Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.0 -

I have got my statements from my bank ready to try and reclaim the charges and they refer to 'paid referrals' which cost £30 a throw and also 'unpaid out' which cost £35. I don't know what the latter are.
I know I can claim for 'paid referrals' can I claim for 'unpaid out' too ?0 -
Yes you can. It's bank-speak for "bouncing"Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.0

yeah unpaid is when a Cheque you have issued is unable to be paid due to eg lack of funds, cheque being post dated.
It is a charge but Im unaware whether you can reclaim it back or not.0
