In a word, yes. I am currently at the preliminary court claim stage with MINT. You can use the standard letters, with a little bit of customisation.
The only real difference is that, due to the Office of Fair Trading's ruling about these charges and their reduction to £12 (still too high and unlawful) last year, the credit card companies always try to use this to justify their position. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Hiya
I used to have my wages paid into my account with Lloyds TSB but I closed it two years ago.
They used to charge me £10.00 every month if I was in the red, which I normally was. (NOW I'm always in the black since I found this website).
Can I claim these charges back...?
I'm confused because in Martin's 'blurb' about reclaiming bank charges, he's talking all about "...fees of £30 - £35 a time...", and "...they send a computer-generated letter..."
1 - I was never sent a letter - it was just an automatic charge each month, and
2 - It was always £10.00, never any more...
Do these come under the umbrella of the "BANK CHARGES" that everyone is talking about...?Dogs have owners, CATS have STAFF...0 -
does anyone know if you can claim back the interest on a Managed Loan, the same way you claim back bank charges?
i have paid £90 a month in interest on a managed loan with HSBC over the last 3 years. i dread to think what that adds up to - i know managed loans suck your lifeblood but im wondering if theres a way to stop itDebt at start (Aug 2003): £13,500 >>Debt Now (Aug 2013): £3,104
HSBC charges WON (april 07): £1,103.00
HSBC PPI WON!!! (July 08): £1,166.00
HFC PPI WON!!! (August 08) £2,100

Yep, these are charges you can claim back. Any charge is claimable because in reality they cost the banks pence, not the £12 or £30 they charge you - which is unlawful.0

As long as its not an account charge for a gold or platinum account or whatever, but yeah if its a charge for going over your agreed overdraft limit, whether that be £0 or £1000 or whatever then yes you can claim that back.
What you can and can't claim: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=3641436&postcount=4
If it's an overdraft excess fee it will say - CHG
If it's an account charge it will say - FEE0 -

Based upon the limited info you have provided on your account I'd say you've got NO chance of reclaiming as the £10 FEE (not charge/penalty) was for services provided to you. If you chose not to use them, then that's your fault and not the banks.
Perhaps you shoud have just requested a basic non-fee paying account or better still queried it with the bank at the time rather than leaving it over two years !!0 -
