I think this thread just shows that for so many of us OS is just a way of life rather than a necessity though sometimes it it begun out of necessity IYKWIM. We just pick out the bits that suit us and that is great.
I've thought of more by the way...
I too use lavender and chamomile lenor cos it smell fab and when I tumble dry the smell fills the whole house.
I use LIDL bathroom wipes for those quick wipes round when you don't have tome to get the bleach out.
I'm pretty addicted to magazines and probably spend £15 a month on them.
But my worst confession of all is this.
I have never even tried to use vinegar for anything other than a fish supper :shhh:
ps. You must all have beautiful skin!!0 -
When I go to the cinema I buy a hotdog/drink combo (£6) when I could buy a 500ml bottle and big bag of smarties at Woolies for a lot less. I use Dr Hauschka face care (only stuff I don't react to). I buy great organic/local meat & veg at the local farmers market but am then too tired to cook with it and it goes to waste. If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!0

I cant believe how *bad* everyone is - I am perfect LOL !!!
NOT..... this thread has made me think about how bad I am, I think we all have days when we do everything OS but lack of time, laziness and convenience usually win over in my house so, here goes :
I still buy sliced bread often - but when I'm good I do bake my own.
We have a takeaway on a friday - usually fish and chips at £5.50 for all 5 of us.
I don't use vinegar as often as I should - but I have emptied my cupboard and now only buy washing up liquid, stardrops and polish - instead of the tons of stuff I had before.
I never make stock - (hangs head in shame) but I do make my own pastry!
I have lots of stuff in the freezer that is convenience foods - eeek - how bad am I - I am sorry I'm not so OS but I do love trying! and I use the tumble drier - often!!If you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.0 -
Are we not supposed to use jars of curry sauce or bolog.? Opps!!
We use 'cheapo-own-brand' for everything except:-
Ecover washing powder,
Ecover DW tablets,
Helmans - we tried the cheap stuff....no..no..no!!
Now I have a tumble dryer I will use it often...no radiators to dry on in this house!
As for pastry? We have no oven (it's dead at the mo) so any form of home baking is out (hear my DH and kids sigh with relief!)

Christmas 2015 - started to save/wrap!0 -
* I buy jars of bolognaise sauce when on offer (and often use Patak's curry paste for curry!)
* As much as I love copying satchet mixes and making my own, I simply can't beat Knorr Thai Green & Coconut stir fry sauce
* I love a bit of El Paso
* In our freezer we have potato waffles. :O0 -
Fun thread!
*Reading through this, it seems that skincare/smellies must be the hardest thing to compromise on! I'm hopelessly hooked on Lush smellies - even buying the shampoo at a discount from a friend who works there, it is expensive, but it's worth it.
*We have no outside space so the dryer's on a couple of times a week. I don't like it, but there's no other option.
*We now have an organic veg box, and time will tell if it's moneysaving, but it's certainly more enjoyable!
* Usually once a week I'll get a pret sandwich, or sushi or something for lunch rather than having a packed lunch, but I often try to make this one of my mystery shop days.
*I buy big bags of ice cubes for my g&t's
* the cat gets James Wellbeloved food rather than the cheap kind. I wouldn't eat the ingredients that go into kitekat, so why should he?
* I love to eat out, but I'm trying to keep it to once or twice a month0 -
I'm another Clinique girl, but I tend to buy it duty free/abroad cos it's sooooo much cheaper (Does that mean I have too many holidays to be OS?)
TD is in use regularly, especially in the winter. But I do try to 90% dry things in the house & then "finish them off" in the TD.
I do have a breadmaker, but usually have a white sliced loaf in the freezer for emergency toast.
I don't make pastry, but buy ready made on the rare occasions we have it.
I buy "expensive" dried pasta rather than half a ton for 50p in Asda.
I pay a man to come round & clean my oven once a year.0 -
Thanks for this thread. Feeling sooooo much better about still buying clinique stuff.
Have managed to cut £240 a month off our food budget so feel like I shouldn't have to cut £50 isha year off my clinique budget!!! when all that will achieve is manky blotchy skin
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
