I rarely buy value items. Mostly because I am worried it'll be a false economy. I cook from scratch all the time and I don't want to cut things back so much that it feels like a punishment.0 -
Using the dishwasher before it's really packed... although I usually rinse 'dirty' dishes, I hate thinking that it has dirty dishes in there. If I haven't used it during the day it goes on after tea!
As someone else has said your idea of luxury changes when you are usually money saving...The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Hmm...definitely a few I can think of:
- Lurpak, salted - can't beat it. Though I buy margarine for the boyf who doesn't care what he has and it's a total waste of money to buy Lurpak for someone who's just apathetic! So slightly moneysaving there?!
- Hair products - am an sucker for anything that I think will tame my wild head of curls
- Hair cuts - *see above*
- Gym membership - can't do high-impact or team sports (joint condition), which basically rules out any free/cheaper exercise. But it makes such a difference to my mood and how I feel about myself
- Putting the heating on - not ALL the time, but I start to need thermals from about September and sometimes a jumper and a blanket just won't cut it!
*edit*
oh, and engagement ring insurance! extravagant but so comforting - know of too many people that lost theirs!0 -
- Using the tumble drier all year this year because the garden and patio are so overgrown I can't hang out the washing. I can't do the gardening and DH won't, so I'll have to pay for someone to clear it properly and then try and keep on top of it next year. This one's really been bugging me.
- I intend to treat myself to an £18 bottle of Molton Brown shower gel next time I get paid. Got a small sample bottle given to me while I was in hospital recently, and fell in love with the smell (vanilla + ylang ylang). It's not something I'll use every day - just when I feel like a little perk. I'm not terribly girly so it's unusual for me to find something like this that I actually like, and it'll be included in the household budget.
- Thick conditioner - I'm currently using Elvive in the red bottle. Can't stand thin conditioner.
- Lovefilm and Sky+ Anytime HD - I don't go out socially so I like to have a good choice of things to watch.
- Interesting things to read on my Kindle, although next month I think I'm going to set a small budget for that and stick to it. I have hundreds of things I haven't read yet so I don't need to buy any more."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000
