Coffee, a colleague in Italy sends us coffe pads for the expresso maker and it is so good, we could be back in Italy again, we have one (at least) every day
A long hot shower in the power shower, bliss
Perfume every day, I remeber my mother saying she would like to wear perfume every day (this was years before it was available in supermarkets and we didn't take foreign holidays) and I decided there and then I would wear it every day, it doesn't have to be expensive (Charlie will do) but I do have to like it."doing the best you enjoy, not the best you can tolerate, is truly the best you can do sustainably."0 -
Lots of interesting replies! As Yorkshirelass says, you change your definition - all of these are affordable luxuries and make life worth living.
I remember the days when we had loads of luxury items, and although I was on a much bigger pay packet the money didn't go anywhere near as far.

Hi GreenQueen,
We have an existing thread on this topic that should interest you:
What's your non OS guilty secret?
I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the replies together.

Hmm. This is actually quite hard. Last winter i would have said electric blanket was essential. I can tell you in spring if i feel the same.
The days feels better if i start it with a drink in my favourite mug, I know its daft. The favourtie mug of the moment might change, according to how i feel or the weather or what i am drinking, but atm, its a rather embarrasing Peter rabbit one, but its bone china, and just the size and shape of a large teacup, so its a smal amount but feels luxurious.
A good water jug. Ever since OS taught me tap water is bearable if you draw it and let it stand. I have a jug drawn every morning, sometimes with something in it, like a sprig of rosemary or mint. It looks and feels so much MORE luxurious than a bottle.

Oh dear. I have quite a few!
Wine - I only have cheap low alcohol sparkling wine so not too expensive.
Chocolate mousses - I am a complete sucker for them. Low fat choc mousse once a day or I get sad
Cheese - once every couple of weeks I buy a nice cheese (well nice to me!) - brie or stilton etc.
Sky HD - We dont go out often so this is our luxury! We dont buy DVDs anymore either as we record things on this. We are lucky though that neither of us like sport so we don't have to pay for that expensive package!
My manicures - ridiculous but I rarely get my hair done and I really enjoy the decadence of going to a salon and someone pampering me every 4 weeks.
My puppy - he is the one thing I would give up all of the above for!0 -
Another one for coffee - though my head is turned by Taylor's of Harrogate. I try to buy plenty when it is on offer but will buy it even if not.
Very dark chocolate - minimum 80% cocoa, but I don't eat much of it.
GOod quality wine - I have an order from Virg!n wines but don't drink that often
Quality clothing - but it can be second hand. Supermarket clothing doesn't fit me well and doesn't last.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Lulabelle has just reminded me my dog, I would give up everything to keep him, he is wonderful. I don't need a personal trainer; he makes sure I get out for walks and he is so happy when we do that it really sets me up for the rest of day.
He's super affectionate and you can tell him anything and he will never tell another soul.
He cost a lot to buy and even more to keep but he is worth every single penny."doing the best you enjoy, not the best you can tolerate, is truly the best you can do sustainably."0 -
well-known mid-range brands of cat food for my moggy (he won't touch value brands but I don't go for the top premium)
my contact lenses - I wear them only if I'm going out, they make me feel much better about myself than wearing my specs0 -
Thanks, Pink-winged,
It did seem unlikely that I'd come up with something original! I look forward to browsing through the old thread.
