  • I buy bread instead of making my own

I buy plain pizza bases and add our own toppings

I buy myself a bottle of wine and a magazine every friday - my little treat for the week

I buy mayo, salad dressing, ketchup, chutney, jam etc because i can't be bothered to make my own.

Have fish fingers and potato waffles in the freezer for lazy nights :)

If DD is staying over at my mams one night and DP isn't coming over i buy myself a ready meal (reduced of course lol!)

I love Bold lavender and camomile powder (though use less than they say on the box so it does last)

I love to buy clothes, makeup etc but i don't spend a fortune. Makeup is Rimmel, skincare is Neutrogena Pure and clothes mainly cheap and cheerful (New Look, Bay, charity shops, ebay) with a few more expensive 'key' items (my jeans - will only buy from River Island as have never found any that fit me as well and also i wont buy cheap shoes)

Probably loads more but those are the things that first sprung to mind.

I don't buy any jars of sauce, only tinned basics like beans, spaghetti, i make casseroles, chilli, soup, bolognese, curry etc from scratch. I have never bought a cake (apart from DD's birthday cakes), i make my own, make our own ice lollies with value orange juice and apple juice, don't buy any prepared fruit or veg etc - so i don't so too badly with this O/S lark!

    Great thread!

I sometimes give the leftover chicken from a roast to the dog instead of keeping it and making another meal from it the next day.
You would too if you had my Treacle looking up at you as you got all the bits off the carcass!
She doesn't beg as a rule, but the bits of chicken have always been her treat since she was a pup and I don't think she understands that we've gone OS - although I have tried to explain it to her...

I use the tumble dryer too but only wash 1-2 times a week

We buy plastic bread on deal
Expensive cosmetics duty free when we travel

We are real scavengers now - our food bill has dropped by £400 a month, and we were still eating out a lot.
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:

Ooh, I've got a few of these:

    1. Tumble drier - The OH hates, hates, hates having clothes drying in the house and I'm not keen either, so it gets used all winter. Line dry as much as possible when the weather allows it in summer.

    2. Ready made, sometimes ready rolled pastry. Never actually tried making my own but I will one day for a giggle.

    3. Tinned pulses, life is too short to soak a chickpea.

    4. Paying someone to make clothing alterations. I can't sew beyond attaching a button untidily and have no intention of learning. Have got a couple of pairs of trousers I need to find someone to take up for me (job for this weekend).

    5. Expensive hobbies, mainly cycling (I have 4 bikes) which involve buying lots of bits of clothing and hardware for. Its just as well I'm not into wearing expensive makeup, having lots of shoes, expensive clothes (unless its for cyling/running/climbing hiking etc) else I'd have no money at all.

Oh dear, I don't think I can confess to all my misdemeanours or I'll be drummed out of OS. Like most other pople here I am better than I used to be but still buy:

    Heinz baked beans
    Charmin loo roll
    Ariel
Sensodyne toothpaste (otherwise my teeth hurt) (I've got about 10 tubes in the cupboard since they were on bogof.

I also still buy lots of food in M&S but in mitigation I plead that DH works for them and we get discount and we need to keep the profits up:rotfl:

Ooh I thought I was quite good but now I feel like a true sinner!

    1. Only use Elemis skincare

    2. Shampoo is Charles Wothington or Ojon

    3. Buy Hovis Wheatgerm all the time, tried breadmaker but it always ended up like a rock so I gave up!

    4. Lenor yellow fabric conditioner, nothing matches that smell

    5. Love Molton Brown shower stuff but its usually a present

    6. Ariel tablets, we did buy the huge boxes of powder from Costco but there are only 2 of us so it just got in the way and ended up with potato peelings and fluff in it

    7. Heinz ketchup and HP sauce, lets face it, there is NO COMPARISON for real HP

    8. Ice cubes, freezer is so rammed with HM soup, pasta sauce, lasagne, chilli and curry that there is no room for balancing ice cube trays

But then again, I don't feel so bad because I don't drink, smoke, wear branded clothes or shoes and don't have any children to spend money on so these are my guilty pleasures that I and OH work hard so we can have some enjoyment in life

God the more I read the more "sins" I realise I commit.

Heinz - beans, spag, ketchup, tomato soup ect.
    Aloe vera loo roll
    cook-in-sauce jars
Pantene shampoo & con ad john frieda for styling products:eek:
Washing tablets & capsules:rolleyes: , ariel coloured for blacks, ariel normal for whites, fairy for jumpers & bold for sheets'n'towels;)
    All the brands:eek:

I've a long way to go & a lot to learn.
I though buying bread would be cheaper than making it?
& with the ready prepared fruit salads I thought it cheaper than buying all the bits:o

BUT I'VE GIVEN UP SMOKING, DRINK ONCE IN A BLUE MOON & ACTUALLY USE MY GYM MEMBERSHIP
