One of my worst habits is for junk jewellery and hair accessories. I've got tons of the stuff, some of which I've never even worn. I'm quite fussy about just *how* junky I'll go though, and since this eliminates the possibility of buying a lot of the stuff that's on offer I often come home with something that's very similar to something I've already got. This makes me feel guilty, but having already arranged with my teenage daughter that we'll meet up by the junk jewellery stands in Asda if we lose each other in there again (happens often!) it's evidently something that doesn't make me feel guilty enough. *Blush*

The one that really does make me feel guilty is buying more chilled Yellow Sticker items than we can get round to eating. Although the prospect of saving money is obviously a major factor, I think it's a 'thrill of the chase' thing with me too. If I don't come home with at least one Yellow Sticker item I almost feel like I've failed (my sons are convinced that my coffin will have a bright yellow label on the side bearing the word 'Oops!'). I try to show some restraint, but once that 10p pot of beetroot salad is in my hot little hands I'm so good at convincing myself of our capacity to eat it by the next day that I fully believe we'll have no trouble packing away half a dozen of them, not to mention a couple of yoghurt six packs ("but they were only 25p!"), the 20p pack of cream cheese and a few of those 5p chilli dip pots. Fast forward a few days, the 'use by' date is history and I'm furtively shoving them to the back of the fridge before my husband notices they've gone over and starts moaning about the waste of money. The minute he's out of earshot I'll bin them, wasting a couple of sheets of kitchen roll to crumple over the top of them so that they can vanish into obscurity undetected. Later that day, I'll visit Asda again and... aaargghh!! :)

*I still buy one can of soup a week to take to work for lunch- I tried taking homemade but I can't seem to find a container that ensures it doesn't leak all over my bag. I have to say though that the soup is REVOLTING and if anyone has any tips as to what containers to buy then I'm all ears! Isn't it funny how your tastebuds change when you go OS?

why not a small flask... u can get those single mug sized ones now which would fit a portion of soup in without the spillages. I also have no problem with saucy left overs in those clip lock tupperware that u get on offer occassionally in the supermarkets.. http://www.philipmorris.uk.com/dept/Housewares/Breadbins-Food-Containers-Canisters/Lock-Lock-Food-Containers/

I take homemade soup in clip lock containers put in a plastic bag just in case and haven't had a problem (you could also wrap in clingfilm) Also mine are usually frozen and won't defrost before i get to work and just takes a minute or two longer in the microwave.

Nothing worthy of a confession in my experience as a catholic who is long overdue making her confession!

I buy oven chips too :-)

I did the same last week, but it's the first pack I've bought for months, and at one time we practically lived on ready made potato products and ready meals. I know I should make my own, and I will, but I just wanted something to fall back on for days when I cba to cook from scratch, I've only used them for 1 meal so far, and will be keeping the rest for 'emergencies'.

Bought an ASDA curry ready meal for DS2's birthday.

Have done my penance though - severe case of Dehli Belly all evening.

    Never again.

  • Much easier to drop into the chipshop/chinese/kebabshop and get one fresh portion instead. No faffing round with the oven, either - and they taste better.

I used to share a chippy take out once a week with my auntie and I haven't enjoyed them so much now I'm without her, but I'm sure they'll figure in my menu plan before long ;)
