Morning all!
For those of you that will be using 'real' nappies - are you planning to buy a birth to potty kit, or to buy a few and test them out? I was planning on buying the kit until someone posted on another thread that they might not be right for the shape of your baby...so now don't know what to do, as I would rather have things like that sorted before baby arrives.
I was planning on buying a second hand breast pump, totally put off by the eBay advice - I think I would rather spend extra and have peace of mind.
For the first time in my life, I have dandruff. And my facial skin feels like it's on fire today, although it doesn't look red..gaaaa! Pregnancy is highly UNglamourous!I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Hello ladies,
Newbie here, i have been lurking for the last few months. I'm due on the 2nd October, and was reading Ikkle's post the other day where she was saying everything she had for the baby and thought 'oh dear maybe I should start buying stuff.' You all seem very organised.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #820 -
AMC - Big bear hugs to you. I know exactly how your feeling. Last night I had the worst night ever!! Sleep has been terrible for past few days but last night took the biscuit. Went to bed with a migrane, couldn't get into any comfortable position, had s shower middle of night and at 3.45am gave up and came down stairs and hit the sofa. Still couldnt sleep, put tv on which didnt agree with me at all... i get migranes with bad eye ache!! Somehow managed to get some kind of sleep although i bet it was 1 or 2 hrs max. I was looking forward to going to Lakeside shopping centre today but no not feeling great at all so instead its another day at home. I'm like you, just wish our little men were here!! To top it off i've also got a cold as well so absolutely rubbish!!
GillyX - Yes I know that they might not fit bubba brilliantly when he is first born. I didnt want to invest in the smaller ones as they wouldnt really last that long, would prefer to put the money in and get more of the standard sized ones if they are fine for bubba. Only ordered 5 as a trial and will get a pack of 20 if they are good. Thanks for info though and glad to hear you like them as well. I've found the washable nappies bit such a minefield.
Robyn - I've been to CT 6 times now in 8 years, although saying that never been to Joburg. Hubby hasnt really been that keen to go, he's only been there once I think in his life, he's been there for that Sun City place as a kid.2025 financial goals & challenges!

You really aren't missing anything in Joburg, not really a tourist attraction. Sun City is quite impressive though and the Pilanesburg nature reserve next door is really good, have always wanted to go hot air ballooning there, think it would be quite breathtaking.
No signs of baby coming. My usual midwife isn't available till Tuesday, so at the moment I'm quite happy for him to stay put for a few more days.Wins 2015:

Woo Hoo ELJ Congrats on your baby boy!!:j
Hope your labour wasnt too bad!
Taadaa - I've decided to go for the all in one sized birth to potty ones. To me didnt seem money wise to buy lots of different sized ones, although the fit might be slightly better. I'm going to trial tot bots easyfit v3 as a starter (5 nappies). No bubba yet so dont know how he'll take to them but will report once i've used them.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Congratulations ELJ on the birth of your baby boy. Although I have now moved up to number 11 .
Well spent about 4 hours in the day assessment unit with abdominal cramps but everything is ok thankfully. Just none the wiser as to why I had pain. The doctor couldn't feel baby girls head so had a "look" inside to see what was going on to make sure I wasn't in labour and basically I am now thinking 'there is no way a baby can get out of there!' Man it was sore and not very flexible.Dont think it helped that I was in agony later on due to the position I had to strike for her to have a look - pelvis basically cant take the legs being open. She did say that baby girls head is very low and probably wont be long now. Not really sure what that means mind you as I tried to get her to elaborate but she just kept saying 'your not in labour' Personally I didnt think I was any way.
To be on the safe side I have now officially packed my bag and started making up my labour Album - music ranges from meatloaf, the band perry, christina perri, kelly clarkson, garth brooks etc so a wide variety there.
DH has also set up the baby monitors (yes two) and is now in a panic as the BT one keeps saying it is too warm in our room. We have turned the heating off in there and have the vents open all day and night but we cant get the temp down below 22. The angel care one is normally 1 degree below what the BT one says so I am assuming they are pretty much spot on. I remember reading on here about a free temperature monitor people were using on here and I was wondering where did you get them from?
Well the sun is finally shining here and I am stuck indoors doing uni work. Never mind
Hope everyone is ok and all the boldies get to have mummy cuddles soon.0 -
Well I'm on my 6 weeks hols from school which leads directly into maternity leave. Therefore, I'm classing myself as now on maternity leave!!
Very pleased about this.
Although, I am still exam marking until Monday. Then I have my MA disertation to crack on with. But I've got myself an extension for that in case bubs comes early. So, there is no real pressure. Think next week will aside from moving be all about organisation and recording what we actually have and then what we actually need. As it stands I have no clue. I know we don't need much. Hi everyone, I keep getting backache and it feels period-like! Hubby is in the middle of 5 night shifts so the first night I was panicking! I definitely don't think it's labour though, just my body getting fed up of carrying all this extra weight/preparing itself to push baby out.
I missed the NHS antenatal classes this morning cos the electrician came to do the stuff in the kitchen. He dropped and dented my new cooker hood so I was on the phone this morning trying to get a new one so he can fit it on Monday. Plus I'm seeing my mum on Monday and I have a pregnancy massage/treatment booked in. Man do I need that at the moment! On a positive, I booked the carpet man in for Monday week so hopefully then the house will be finished. It's killing me living in this mess! I want to nest please!!
Shopping for last few bits for my hospital bag on Wednesday then baby will be allowed to arrive. Not before!
I am 37 weeks today and I realised that whatever happens now, I will definitely have the baby in my arms within 5 weeks! Still can't imagine it...
Hope everyone's having a nice weekend.
Ooh before I forget, my NCT teacher recommended Floradix tablets for after the birth as we will probably lose a lot of iron. She said it doesn't bung you up. I paid £9.15 in Holland & Barratt so she'd better be right!!0 -
P.S. I don't think the head is engaged yet and that is really annoying me!0
