Re second hand breast pumps. This is the advice on eBay about buying them:

"The following is a simple article reminding parents and baby carers that breastpumps are a personal hygiene item. Most manufacturers do thier best to point out to owners of new breastfeeding equipment that items should not be shared as they are single user items. Any feeding item which comes into contact with bodily fluid can carry a risk of serious infection when subsequently used for feeding another baby.

Hospital grade breastpumps are supplied with a sterile packs containing all new components which will come into contact with breastmilk. When buying second hand breastpumps, etc, we should follow the same code to ensure maximum safety for baby.

Hygeine is an important consideration when purchasing second hand breastfeeding equipment from eBay and elsewhere. We would like to offer the following advice... Always replace the components which come into contact with breastmilk in order to remove any risk of infection completely. Bottles, breastshileds and valves are very cheap to replace. Stands, pump / motor units, etc, are not affected and do not need replacing.

Replace the following items as a matter of course: Breastshields, bottles and any valves that may come into contact with breast milk. Remember, hygiene is important, especially for a new baby - it's not worth taking risks to save a few pennies."

  • Morning all! Morrisons have a baby event on at the mo, their website is showing half price deals on Kiddicare stuff although you don't seem to be able to order them online so you might have to take a trip to a store. There's also a comp to win baby and toddler stuff (I put in that I had 0 children and left the birthday blank and it accepted my entry). Link here for anyone that's interested https://www.morrisons.co.uk/Offers/Categories/Baby/ they had bettr than half price travel cots and there was a changing mat for a fiver. May be worth a look?

Also Tesco have got better offers on the huggies newborn size 1 and wipes then morrisons

    4 pack of huggies wipes (M) £3.40 and (T) £2.97
    Size 1 huggies nappies (M) £3 and (T) £3.47

I know its not much, but every penny counts. I'd already been stocking up on wipes from morrisons, but sent my mum to tescos when i found out they were cheaper :) we currently have 6 packs of wipes (20 packs) and 3 nappies. I'm planning on buying a pack of nappies in with the big shop each week till baby arrives, so we'll have a good stock of them both.

Not sure what we are doing this weekend. OH was asleep from when i got home 6pm, we mentioned going Trafford Centre but dont think i can cope with it being busy. DD needs new clothes, none of the trousers seem to fit, plus she needs holiday clothes. This time in 2 weeks they will have left me for the week :(

    Morning all!

    Congratulations ELJ2287!

Busy busy weekend here, we have my brother visiting us, so am off to Paddington to collect him, take him around for a bit, then home to cook dinner etc and then tonight we are going to the cinema to see the new batman film (to say OH is excited would be an understatement!) as it has been both of their birthdays this week!

Also, went out for work's end of term dinner last night, obviously drove as I wasn't drinking, didn't eat until late but HOW have I still woken up this morning, absolutely knackered and feeling as if I'd gotten slightly tipsy last night?!? Think furry mouth and slightly fuzzy head! Strange?!?!

Massive labour vibes to all who need them, hugs to those who need them too!

Quick question, looking at hiring a tens machine. I used one last time and thought it helped. Does anyone know where the best place is to hire them. I think i used boots last time, but the same machine is £10 cheaper to hire from http://www.pregnancytens.co.uk/?gclid=CI-En6ykqrECFccLfAod5yoAJw

    Morning all,

Great advice about the iron tablets - tis the ferrous type that I was prescribed as they couldn't get hold of the pregaday ones. I'm meant to take 2 a day. I did read in the packet that they shouldn't be taken if you have a stomach ulcer (hopefully I don't and this isn't the cause of my heartburn), but it didn't list omeprazole in the list of medications not to be taken at the same time. I'm hoping LMM that as the prescription had to be signed off by a doctor, that this is ok. MMM I will definitely look for grape flakes (just looked on mysupermarket and looks like they only sell them at Asda, so will have to make a trip there today) - have heard of grape nuts (my Mum used to eat them). We've got weetabix in the house (basics one) at the moment, so will eat those with raisins too, as this should help, and I plan to buy some dried apricots today when I do the food shop.

Have a lovely time at the seaside emsbet. Thanks again for doing the lists.

Well I'd better get dressed and get a move on - the sun is out in the sky and I have a washing basket that is overflowing, so I'm going to put a load on as I'm starting to run out of clothes.

Hugs to all who need or want them,

Congratulations elj on the birth of your little one.

Snowy Tescos hire TENS machines for £27.50 for 6 weeks from their pharmacies - not sure how this compares price-wise though.
