I have won one (not the flashy medela one I should add) so won't be purchasing second hand but I don't think there would be any problem with it.

I am sure that you used to be able to hire out breast pumps with no ill effect.

You still can, a colleague who's recently had a baby who wouldn't feed from the breast properly is hiring one from the hospital. It's not a swing though, more heavy duty. Details are on medela's site.

On the soapnuts thread on here they said it can rot the rubber in the washing machine over time so to use it sparingly.
I suppose it's possible - although I can't imagine the few drops would make such a difference (on the other hand if a few drops are enough to make your whole washing load smell nice perhaps there's something in it!!). Mine was specially for soapods, but it seems they might not make it anymore (had a quick online rummage and can't see any for sale). We have soft water in any case so if it's acidity that's the problem I'll need to keep an eye on our rubber bits, although no ill effects so far.

Thanks for the advice re the iron tablets - Moon just having a shower and then we're off to collect them. I'm a vegetarian and also orange in any shape or form (much as I like them and before I was diagnosed, used to drink fresh orange every morning) triggers my IBS and affects me for the next few days - I did say to Moon that it may be a good idea to drink that if they iron tablets make me constipated as it may counteract them. ;) lol

The soapnuts didn't come with any essential oils, so will do without at first, but if I feel that the washing needs a fragrance, I may get some chamomile essential oil if you can get such a thing, as it's meant to be sleep-inducing (I'm washing the baby stuff in it, so this may be a good thing). I already have some lavender and tea-tree essential oils, so may use a bit of that if the washing is particularly soiled along with some soda crystals or bicarb.

Midwife has just texted me as she's chased up the glucose results, and they are normal at 7.0 which is good - I'm really pleased I don't have gestational diabetes, as the thought of any more injections above and beyond the normal bloodtests, was filling me with dread as I have a phobia of them. Got to have more bloods done at the next midwife appointment in 3 weeks though still as routine as this is the 34 week appointment next. Can't believe how quickly the time is flying past now.

My Mum took a photo of Moon and I with the bump today when we went over, so that's the first time we've taken a picture of the two of us, which will be nice to keep as a memory. All of the bump pictures Moon has taken of me so far have just been of the bump without showing my face in case I put them online.

RE breast pumps, Moon and I have decided that we're going to wait until Bean is born, and then probably hire one if we can rather than buy one, as it's meant to be a lot cheaper to do it this way. Just need to track down where they hire them locally to us, as I'm not 100% sure that our local hospital do.

Well best go and put my shoes on. Hugs and labour vibes where appropriate.

    sexymouse xx

Thanks to Griggsy who mentioned the 20% off voucher. We headed up to ToysRUs and got a Graco travel system. I'll only use it as long as the infant car seat is used and then I'll swap to a stroller, so I didn't want to spend too much, and the voucher brought the price down nicely.

MMM - DH has now decided he wants a cot bed after all as he loved the Winnie the Pooh that you're getting. Only trouble is all my daughter's bedroom furniture is white, so the shared room would not look very coordinated!

LadyM - Congratulations, glad everything went well.

AMC - fingers crossed baby arrives soon for you.

Facebook - people have mentioned facebook, is there an MSE group on there? I hardly ever bother with my facebook account, so I never find anything on there.

Oh, and I saw my consultant this morning. I sat waiting for nearly two hours for my appointment and then was in with her for less than 3 minutes. She basically said there is nothing to check or talk about now until I get to 36 weeks, so it felt like a big waste of time.

LadyM, I was worried about you too, didn't realise you were at 20 weeks already, yay for scan and a blue mouse :)

not much to say today, I have read back and I'm hoping for huge labour vibes for our boldies! hubbys last day of huge work project so pleased he can concentrate on me from tomorrow, yay! after tomorrow, 12 working days left and as hubbyis out celebrating, I'm cooking curry and watching baby programmes - did anyone see babies in the office? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01l444h been interesting so far, but very tired after some dancing today at 35 weeks and I didn't even do a lot, it was just for photos so may zonk out soon...

emsbet, monkey bars sound amazing! I don't even think that my hospital has a separate birthing centre but the rooms look good, just hoping they wont be too full when baby boy is due around august bank holiday.

    hugs to all xxx

    Evening ladies,

I'm going to have a quick rant about something completely un-pregnancy related- feel free to skip the paragraph!! My DD and I have waited in all afternoon for a plumber who has not turned up, despite this being their second chance- they were due on Tuesday afternoon and no show either!! When I called on Wednesday they were completely unapologetic and just said they'd reschedule, I made it today as it's my only day off, I'm working sat/sun/mon/tues and wed so it'll be thursday until I can reshedule again. DD is in her third week of summer hold and today is about the third semi nice day we've had in the hols but have been stuck in!! Ok rant over, I feel a but better but am still fairly p'd off!!

    Anyway, how's everyone?

    Congrats on team blue ladym!!

Hugs to those who need them- diszie- it looks like you've been given loads of good advice and reassurance already, just to add my experience- DH and I have been together for 10 years but only got married in Feb last year when our daughter was 6. She and I had different names all that time and it honestly didn't bother me. We never felt that anyone devalued our relationship based on not being married or being young and tbh wouldn't have given much of a damn had anyone said anything. The only thing that did bother me was that DH- boyfriend at the time- did not have parental responsibility Which felt a but unfair to him. This has changed now and it never bothered us enough to go through the legal process of changing it for us. Seriously though, if you guys are happy in your relationship and the way things are with your life, it's nobody else's business!! We always knew we wanted to get married but prioritised saving for a house deposit then once we had bought te house had to do a load of building work, all of which felt we were building a life for our family in a more important way than one day in a posh dress. My daughter loved being my only bridesmaid/ flowergirl and looked like more of a little bride than I did!! It does sound like you may be on a different page to your OH though re how much of a priority marriage is to both of you so have a talk with him if it really something you want and not just something you think you should do because of the way you think others think. I tend to feel a bit sorry for people who seem to have nothing in their own lives to focus on so they focus on picking at others lives.

Ok I've had two rants now so will shut up! Good luck an labour vibes to those who want them!!

sexymouse - the regular iron tablets from the doctor made me nauseous with stomach pain and constipation (i was only taking one a day, should have been taking 3)

not sure what dose the doctor has recommended for you.
i changed to iron phosphate in the end which i brought from a supplement company called biocare. i also take 3grams of vit C a day as this softens stools as well as eating plenty of fruit and veg and drinking about 2 litres of water.

i am still on the iron tablets and think i will need to continue to take them till a good few months after i deliver - my ferritin level which is your iron store level was 14 - should be between 20-300.

hopefully your stomach wont be as sensitive as mine,
    Laura
