Ooooh, Rups, do Primark do them with buttons up front too? I will probably need another one that opens in the front.

Mrshaworth, they measure you laying down. They put the end of the tape right onto your pubic bone (below the pubic hairline, like a cm above the clitoris, you press down and you find the bone) and then go up all the way until they feel the top of the uterus, which is around where your belly starts to spring out, around your ribcage. Measure in cms, it is generally +/-2cm in relation to how many weeks you are. So if you are 25 weeks, you can expect around 23-27cm.

marta yes, i got some with buttons but have a closer look. think they were like for 6 pounds and i thought even if they get messy etc then i can chuck them. my sweet mil found me a nice satin gown from debenhams on sale for 12 pounds, think she has picked me up. hope she got me a few sizes bigger as i dont want to struggle fitting in lol

Hi Can I join too please? :hello: Am sneaking over from the 12-24 week thread too (Hello Saffagal , am not stalking you :o )

Baby number 4 for me - due on the 13th April. (But measuring 5 weeks over already - I cook them large :rotfl:) As for the fast labour thing if you are having a big babies SavageHK - I may be testament to that - labours were 2hr 3 mins, 1 hr 13 mins and the last one was 35 minutes and they were all nearly 10lbs ers

Sadly still got hyperemesis and on medication and spent last weekend in hospital again...but keep having the odd "better" day (still sick a lot but can actually function :D) so maybe the end is in sight!!!

Have had a number of scans (5 or 6) already as I developed 2 haemotomas due to the severe sickness and kept bleeding, but have got my 20 week scan a week on Monday and me and DH have "finally" decided to find out the sex of this baby

    Hope everyone is well xxxxxxx

    Afternoon ladies :)

Welcome chonorla, and congratulations on team blue spider!

MissKeith, my baby is partially back to back (more like side on now) and advice from mw was to spend time on hands and knees with hips higher than head, and sit on gym ball/upright chair. Key is to use gravity to move them, as their back is the heaviest part. Try to avoid sitting with knees higher than hips, or slouched on sofa, as this tips them towards your spine. There are also exercises you can do, check out spinningbabies.com.

Been swimming with sister and niece this morning, and they stayed for lunch and a play afterwards, was really nice. I'm exhausted now, and my groin/pelvis are really sore, hoping to find out baby's engaged at the mw tomorrow :)

Rups, I'm not sure what you mean by bubbles, but all kinds of different feelings are normal, just depends how you interpret them I guess. You mention them quite often, so I guess they're normal for you. I kept getting a weird sensation just above my pubic bone like fingers scraping - turns out it was probably the baby's hands playing by it's mouth, as they've stopped since it turned to the side! Weird!

    Hello
How do they measure your bump? Are you lying down or sitting up? Because lying down I don't have much of a bump.
Lying down - and that's normal :) I look massive standing but lying it's much smaller, my back curves in quite a bit (always has) which makes me look bigger standing.

I had dreadful heartburn on my DD and she was born with a shock of long dark red tiny ringlets!! Superhairy!!! All the MW's/doctors etc in the hospital were told to come and have a look at her hair!!! Both my DS's had hair, but just a normal head of hair and no heartburn.

If its any consolation to those who have back to back babies - both my DS's were born like that. I did have to have a ventouse with the first but that was because he had passed meconium and they wanted him out asap. But second DS was born back to back with no help at all. And I had spent the last 10 weeks sat on a gym ball but he was having none of this turning business :rotfl: I also crawled round a lot and basically looked like a mad woman the last couple of weeks trying every suggestion going :)

moneypenny - I had hyperemesis for the whole 40 weeks for the first 2 babies, so just feeling a little better at this stage is a bonus!!!

    xxxxxxxx

  • Afternoon all! 38 weeks plus 2 days for me, just back from midwife appointment and everything is looking pretty good. I am only measuring 35cm but she didn't seem concerned because a.) I am generally a little person and b.) baby is more engaged than last time (when I measured 34cm) which apparently means they are measuring less of it. 3/5 engaged she said, so that sounds good. Have been finding my whole pelvis is really achy this week especially if I do a bit of walking, but it's nothing I can't handle. So excited now!

Am struggling a bit to find a mattress to fit my beautiful handmade wooden crib - if anyone knows where I can get a proper thick mattress (one of the 10cm ones) that is 70cm x 30cm I would be most grateful.

Also, another question - anyone here know anything about maternity bras in small sizes? I am so small that I haven't really got a bra size usually, currently wearing my normal pre-pregnant 34A gel bras. My measurements right now are 33 inches under the bust and 34 around the bust. They say to add 5 to the underbust and then your cup size depends on the difference between under and around but this maths doesn't work for me as it would make me a 38 but with a minus cup size!

Do you think I am likely to suddenly get bigger when the milk comes in, or should I just get 34A and hope they'll fit? To be honest I don't actually *need* to wear a bra in terms of support, I wear them to give me more shape but I assume this will be different when I am feeding? Or do you reckon I could just decide to go all feminist and do without bras for a while?
