I also have a thing on swaddling from our antenatal classes showing how to do it with a normal square blanket / muslin if anyone wants - not one image though so can't post easily but could email it if you pm me0

Morning. LittleMoog you can mark me as a scheduled c-section on the 4th December if you want? I'm not surprised you are starting to feel uncomfortable! You're only a week away from your due date.
I have been feeling like I've been eating too much and have put on too much weight, so I weighed myself and have put on nearly 2 stone (I'm 36 weeks). A few people I know told me they put on 4 stone and got back to being very slim in about 6 months, so I'm not woryying too much now. One girl in work went from 7 stone to 14 stone!! And she's back to 7 stone again.
Looking forward to having this baby now. The hospital gave me some info on the section and said to leave all bags in the car until after the baby is born apart from one small one with a nappy, a dressing gown and slippers. What do they expect the baby to wear? I've the black Boots changing bag packed with a few things, so I'm sure they won't complain, as it's very small.
Donetook me about 4 attempts to get the formatting right from my phone though, really not with it this morning!
I still can't really believe it's my due date in a few days, I thought I'd feel ready to pop by now, and I still feel fine, maybe because baby hasn't engaged yet!
Weightwise 2st sounds perfect to me, by the time you take account of the placenta, extra blood, amniotic fluid etc. I had a nasty shock earlier this week when I got on the scales and had gained about half a stone in a week! weighed again today and I've lost 5lb since Tuesday, so must have been fluid retention or something! I've managed to limit my gain to about 7lb in total, but I was obese to start off withLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Morning ladies,
Thanks for the info on swaddling savage. I asked my midwife a while ago when other people mentioned it on this thread (I'd never heard of it!). She said at the hospital I'm going to they will swaddle baby, and it's generally recommended for the first month... However, she said some babies don't like it, but apparently I will be able to tell if my baby does or doesn't! I have bought a swaddle blanket with Velcro so hopefully it will be easier to do!
Littlemoog, you are always do busy, I don't know how you do it! I've got ages to go and I'm shattered all the time!
I've no idea how much weight I've put on... From week 12- week 20 I put on 7kg!! That scared me so I promised I wouldn't weigh myself again. I know I've put on fat as well as baby weight as I've def gone up a dress size- but like the midwife said... It's because my body is preparing to breast feed!!
I've been rudely awoken this morning by my father in law banging in the kitchen... He's fitting our new one which is brilliant.. But so noisy when my head is banging already!
I'm due in work at 12 today, in 2 minds about going in though... Staring at 4 computer screens doesn't really appeal when my head feels like it wants to explode!!
Anyway, I'm off to make a cuppa... Hope everyone has a good day

I have also put about 3stones / 17kg+. And I have another month to go. I am not worried either, everyone has told me you lose half of that in the birth and the rest might drop off slowly afterwards, once my body gets rid of extra liquid and starts using the fat for breastfeeding. I won't be doing a diet afterwards, but I might start some exercise to help tone back the areas that have now overstretched. I am more obsessed with my breasts, tbh. I have had a bra on 24/7 since pregnant, trying to keep them in place. We will see how they behave when breastfeeding and afterwards, I was a 34-36b before, and only up now to 36-38c. I have one d but does not feel like it gives me much support. They were very firm before, so maybe a bit of shagging won't be very noticeable. I am giving up with my hips, though. They were already quite a few inches bigger than my breasts and waist before, quite pear shaped, but now they have added an extra 12cm / 5inches to that, plus stretch marks plus cellulite, I don't think I will be able to get them in good shape again, they had already changed in the last 5 years, now I add the pregnancy they are doomed lol. But I am sure I won't give a damn once I see my baby.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

moneypuddle I had extremely swollen feet and ankles in the last trimester, and they actually got worse in the first couple of weeks after I had Jonathan. As long as your blood pressure is ok, then my midwife told me not to worry about it as it is just fluid retention. I think the swelling after the birth was also because I'd been on a drip due to an epidural, so probably had quite a bit of fluid in me. One thing that really helped relieve my feet (elevating only worked to a certain extent) was using MamaMio Lucky Legs cream (quite pricey, but worked brilliantly and it was nice to have a massage from my husband every night).Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Hello ladies! I rather posted and ran the other day and haven't made it back to reply properly.
Congrats to all those who have given birth and welcome to those new and returning to the thread.
I'm a bit useless and forgot to take notes as I read, so I'll reply to things I remember about and apologies for things I miss!
LadyM - Glad the jabs went well and I hope you're not feeling the effects of them too much. Feel free not to answer the following questions, but they are things I've been thinking about. How have you found the M.E. alongside the pregnancy? Do you have extra plans in place for coping after the birth? It's weird, I've had M.E. for so long now, that very few things that come my way faze me, but pregnancy and thinking about being a Mum is so out of any range of normal, that it freaks me out a bit!
savage - Thanks for the info on swaddling, that's really useful. I might ask my midwife whether they do that at the hospital or not, to get a feel for whether it is worth preparing to possibly continue or not.
Regarding changing bags, that's yet another thing we've not got sorted; in fact, we've got very little sorted and need to start planning. I'm thinking a rucksack style one, as it would need to be good for both of us and I imagine it would be better for my back and easier if we go down the baby-carrying route.
I have no idea how much weight I've put on now. I used to do Slimming World and continued until I was 19weeks or so, when I decided that financially it was money that could be better spent on an exercise class, especially as once I was losing weight again, we'd have moved 20mins away and I'd be going to a different class anyway! By then, I'd only just started gaining and had just about got back to my pre-nausea weight. It's something I'm not too worried about either, as I know what to do to lose extra when the time comes. I just need to stop craving darn gingerbread!
As for those with swelling, I've only experienced the odd day so far. I did suffer from swelling a few years ago, especially in my hands, when I was fairly immobile after a car accident. Massage really helped and for my fingers, spending time with my elbows resting on something and my hands spread in the air wiggling about got the fluid moving.
AFM, the physio went well, surprisingly so as she wasn't very supportive last time I saw her. Unsurprisingly, I have SPD, so she's given me a massive amount of tubigrip to wear all day to which I can add the support belt she gave me when I'm standing and walking. It's definitely helping and I'm getting more consistent pain as my hips can't 'wander' as much.
Thanks to whoever recommended H&M for long tights, I've got a thin pair from there, which are great, I also picked up a pair of leggings at the same time and they are the first pair I've owned in my life that are the right length! I must pop to Mothercare and get a thicker pair of tights, in case it's arctic next week, but you're all great with the suggestions.0 -
Back from shopping, but I'm knackered now! MK shopping centre is huge and I ended up walking up and down for ages. Got quite a few things sorted for Christmas/December birthdays though, and got some ideas for others, so not too much left on my list. I think shopping will be much more stressful with baby in tow, so hoping to do the rest online!
Baby decided to wake up just as I was leaving and kicked me all the way home which made driving quite tricky. Pesky child! :rotfl:Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160
