They had a pack of Moses bedding for £25 with 2 flats, two fitted and two cellular blankets... but it looked all a bit rough for the skin, not soft. The same items individually costed £7.99 for a pack of two sheets ( any) or a blanket, all in white. Do you know of any better deal? It just did not look soft enough and they only had them in white, pink or blue. I rather get yellow or cream to change a bit. I do not want it all pink or white just because I am having a girl. I must have moaned so much about that, that my mil has bought us a fleece blanket in lime green "because you do not want more pink", bless, lol.

Hi Marta,
For the amount of time you use the moses basket, it's not really worth paying out this much. You can just use soft cotton pillowcases (I use brushed cotton) over the mattress or buy the fitted sheets quite cheaply from Tesco (mine were beige / cream 2 pack). I also wrap a receiving blanket (thin brushed cotton one) around the mattress as an extra layer that can be whipped off and washed if the baby is sick etc. I found the best bargains for blankets (thin and thick) were at TK Maxx (loads of lovely patterned ones!) and they have a lovely assortment that can be used in the pram, cot and moses. When they have the baby vest and gro on in a warm room they don't need to be bundled up too much.
This time around I am going to try a swaddle wrap for the baby so won't use a blanket on top as well if this works.
Hope that helps,

I kept forgetting to reply to specific posts once I start talking about stuff... Rups, do not worry, it sounds like you are a bit hormonal today? What about a bath with some music in the background?
Missbumbury, I had not thought of snacks!! I am not a fan of mint chocolatenot sure what could I have if I end up in the birthing pool, I do not want to think about crumbs floating lol. I think I will get strawberry smoothies and straws. I would like some chocolate digestive but they break easily. Maybe grapes or banana? I haven't got a clue!! Maybe also some coffee based drink, like those chilled Starbucks drinks I saw at the supermarket but never tried. I guess a bit of caffeine during labour won't be bad. A part of me is afraid.of just wanting to rest and sleep if it goes on for too long, I have fallen slept at the dentist twice whilst having dental work done... If I am tired I just fall asleep!! I guess it won't be the case, as I will be excited and all that... but if the pain relief works too well and I am there for 20+ hours, I am not sure!!! Lol I do not really know what to take if I am in the water.

Thanks Katy!! I will have a look then.
About the swaddle, ask your midwife, mine said it is ok for short periods of time and when you are around, but not for night time due to risk of overheating. Idk if this is one of those things that divide different generations if midwives, but there's no harm in asking. I have a sleeping bag for newborn, but it all depends of how big my baby is when she is born. My room is 20C all the time, I am using the baby room thermometer, it never goes below 20C and maximum temperature is 20.4C or so. I guess I will be fine with the sleepsuit and one more thing. I need to check what Tesco has and go back to TkMaxx, I bought recently baby stuff there because it is very good usually and well priced. Thanks!!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Marta, you will find info changes regarding where you are and who you see. When i was in hospital the staff swaddled bubs overnight and showed me how to do it at home and until he was big enough for sleeping bags we swaddled him at home.
We also had one hv say no to co-sleeping and one say yes.
As for moses baskets as well as pillow cases you can also fold a muslin and tuck it in incase of spit up/sick.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

You beat me Scottish chick, Violet Autumn turned up at 1202pm on 5th, fireworks babies! Labour didn't seem too long, had to manage on gas and air only as was aldeady 8cm by the time l booked into hospital at about seven -ish. Tens machine didn't help me at all as l didn't experience any back pain until l was pushing, it may have helped then but it didn't occur to me to try it. The good news is that for some women, concentrating on pushing takes the contraction pain away
l pushed much better when l kept quiet, although l had a sore throat after from all the yelling....completely incredible experience, and after having a section last time it's given me a grrat sense of achievement. And I've never seen Mr Taadaa cry so much!
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Morning everyone,
Congratulation Cake and Taadaa. Lots of bonfire babies :j:j:j. Looking forward to read your birth stories.:smileyheaBaby Aida is here :j:j:jBaby fund - £3140/£60000 -
Morning ladies
Congratulations Taadaa, what beautiful names
Had a terrible nights sleep, DH has a rotten cold so was snoring really badly, I ended up going to the spare room at about 1.30. Our spare bed is so uncomfy, must sort out a new mattress this weekend before we have any visitors! :rotfl:
Woke up to the news that our 3rd NCT baby has arrived, just 1 day after the due datealways nice to get baby news
Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Congratulations Taadaa!
Here's my birth story.
Had a great day on Sunday as it was our last as a family of 3. We went to see James Bond, played games and then went out for supper. I went to bed at 9 and slept for a couple of hours but woke at eleven with mild period type cramps. They weren't painful just niggling.
At 12.45 I called my mum to say my OH would be putting our DD up to hers just incase I went into labour. By the time he came back I was having mild contractions but still not too bad. He asked if I wanted a bath but I said I'd wait a while. At 1.30 I got into the bath and took the iPod with me as I had a contraction timer app on it. After twenty minutes I noticed that they were two minutes apart but the contractions themselves only lasted about 30 seconds and were still bearable. I managed to shave my legs, get out of the bath then have a shower to wash my hair. By this time my OH was telling me to get dressed to go to the hospital and he packed the car. I still wasn't convinced it was time to go in as it wasn't that sore but I agreed to go. I made him go round by my mums to drop off our house keys incase our DD needed anything the next day. After we left hers it was 2.35am and the hospital is a ten minute drive away. Normally when he's driving I'm continually telling him to slow down but I asked him to hurry up as I all of a sudden had an urge to push .
We got to the hospital at 2.45am and it was a struggle to get to the ward, thought I was going to have him in the lift. I was wheeled into the delivery room and helped into my nightie. The midwife gave me gas and air but after about 3 puffs I forgot about it. I was examined and she told OH to come and have a look, he could see baby's hair which was very thick and black. I was then told to push on my next contraction. Baby's head came out then and body followed with the next contraction. It took 5 minutes from getting my bum on the bed to having him on my chest and he was born at 3am on the dot.
I delivered the placenta not long afterwards but needed three injections to stop the bleeding but I was too busy looking at baby to be particularly worried about it.
We had to wait at the hospital for ages before we were discharged at 3pm and finally got him home to meet his big sis. She is like a wee mother hen and isn't frightened of holding him.
We have named him Brodie Graham (finally got my way)

Also, what food is everyone planning to take with them? I am thinking cereal bars and sweets mainly.
As for food, I'm taking what I usually want when I feel a bit queasy - like on the train when I'm getting a bit motion sick or feeling a bit tired/under the weather. For me that's orange juice, plain salted walker's crisps, and (usually) peanut M&M's, although I'm trying to avoid those due to the colours in them!! I've bought turkish delight and pastilles / jelly babies instead for the sugar.0
