My swaddle wraps are a summer material so quite lightweight, not fleecy so don't think overheating will be a problem. She might not like them though so I will ebay them (they are John Lewis so should sell!) if they are not a hit.
Anything is worth a try when you have a crying sleepless baby!

morning ladies!!
Congratulations Taadaa and what a birth story scottishchick! wow. Lovely names btw. I wish my labour is as your Scottishchick. I am glad all is ok and you are enjoying cuddles. cant wait to meet my little person.
with regards to getting cheapy moses basket sheets, matalan is also very good. my mum got me 2 for 5 pounds and when i washed them, they are in good condition too so try there too. So i have a question though... we have a moses basket and my mum got me a newborn sleeping bag. what is this swaddle that has been mentioed here and do i need it? I need a thermometer. we also need our window fixed in our room as one of the glazing is missing for only one window and could get cold for bubba.
i asked midwife yest to check how my bubs was lying, and she prodded and pressed and said the head is facing down and she asked whether i feel movement down below and i said those bubbles all the time

Hi all.
Congrats Scottishchick, TaaDaa & Cake! Sounds like a perfect birth story Scottshchick!
I had my last consultant's clinic appointment today and was seen by a registrar. She spent ages scanning and frowning and i keep asking if everything was OK. She eventually said all looked good except she wasn't sure if it was the angle she was scanning at, but the baby's stomach looked like there might be a problem and she needed a consultant for a second opinion. We had to wait about 30 mins for the consultant to finish with the person they were with and come and take a look, but they immediately said all looked correct to them.
The baby is measuring exactly average size (approx. 5lb 9oz at 35.5 weeks) so looking at about 7.5lb baby when I get my section (booked for 4th December 39 weeks)! Yay! On the countdown now.
Every appointment with DD and with this baby my urine sample has been clear and today I had + glucose. They asked what I'd had for breakfast and I said Coco Pops. They just laughed and said that would do it. Totally normal.
Getting excited now! Hoping to work another 3 weeks, but I'll see how I feel. I'm finding it so much tougher than with my first baby.
Oh and the extra iron supplements seem to be doinf the trick. iron level is up to 11.6.0 -
hey CL great stuff about iron. wow the 4th hey? not long now!!!. people at work are scaring me now. they said my belly has dropped and i should pop soon. eek!! i got scared. doesnt help that i m having a back ache today.

Congratulations Taadaa and Scottishchick! Both your birth stories are lovely and give me great hope, lol.
I have such bad baby brain at the moment, I am struggling to remember the simplest things. Thinking that lack of decent sleep probably isn't helping much really. Off to Waitrose to buy yummy things now (and some sneaky wine too).:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself! I'm 20 weeks on Sunday and have my scan on monday, which im very excited about! My edd is 31-03-13. I've been lurking on this forums for AGES but feel a bit creepy since I havent said hello! I'm on the other fb group so I don't post much on here but I like hearing about people further along too, it's a great insight and very usefulSaving money like a trouper...0 -

Blood pressure is typically low/normal, no idea what it is at the moment. They have gone down a bit but as I've been on my feet all day (compared to normal) I wondered if it could be that?
(Was hoping my puffy face was just swollen but I think the fourth chin actually exists due to over-cake eating).
I've had puffy ankles - but thankfully not all the time. NHS commentary here: http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/swollen-ankles-feet-pregnant.aspx#close
basically normal but if it comes on suddenly keep an eye out for pre-eclampsia (as always)
I think I remember reading somewhere that they should go down a bit if you get your feet up after a few hours, if they don't probably get it checked.0 -
Rups - to clarify re the swaddle, no you don't need one, we managed without one last time but did have a few problems with sleeping so have bought them to try this time. We also have the sleeping bags to use after a few weeks.
At the hospital, they manage to wrap the baby so snugly they are quiet and peaceful and you can never seem to recreate this at home.
The swaddle is a light blanket with velcro on it in key places, and you wrap it around the baby's shoulders to keep legs and arms tight to the body so they feel 'enclosed'. The head is the only part which is left exposed!

There are some schools of thought that this may make them too warm and / or be too tight on the hips and joints so we won't be wrapping too tightly but will give it a try.
Some baby monitors also have a room thermometer on them as well, worth checking. We got a paper one in the hospital kit with a red amber green system that works perfectly well so you might not need to buy one.
Hope that helps. x0
