Congratulations SamW and mummyof 2.

Nothing exciting happening here, thought briefly last night that there was but nothing came of it - backache and feeling a bit sick was all. For the first time I am considering calling the hospital as not much movement today, but will hold off until after I have eaten as that can wake the baby up normally. Sure all is fine.

Re money - I am pretty anal about stuff like that so knew exactly what our living costs were before trying, so didn't start until I knew I had enough saved to take 9-12 months off. Luckily I have a good job! My husband's grant funding runs out today, so we will only have my mat. pay coming in for the next 6 months, it is going to be sad to see money coming out of savings instead of going in, but worth it so I can be at home.

Moneypuddle (I think) who was worried about getting to the hospital. Depending on what the route is like I would consider driving myself - contractions in theory should be regular so as long as it is quiet you could pull over ever 2 mins if necessary and wait for one to pass. Probably a ridiculous plan, and if I start labour any time soon I may revise my advice! I would be more worried about a taxi driver throwing me out if they don't want someone in labour in the car. Can you ask the m/w what she suggests, they must come across people who don't drive all the time

Congratulations to SamW and Mummyof2 on the births of Elizabeth and Elijah! Hope you are enjoying your mummy cuddles.

Good luck to everyone on the boldies list. I'm enjoying being a mummy and can't believe that J is 4days old already! Still feeling sore and have been having problems with breastfeeding, but hopefully getting on top of those with the help of maternity support workers (NHS breast-feeding team who come to your home) and top-ups of formula milk along with expressing and syringe-feeding. I'm a bit gutted that I've had to use formula as well, as I wanted to be able to do it all on my own, but as J is jaundiced and a very hungry baby, I'd rather he be healthy than not have me produce enough for him. Hopefully once my milk comes in fully, I'll be able to go without the top-ups. Midwife visit tomorrow and also the MSW will be back again to see how the plan we put in place today is going, so all busy here again. Haven't had a day since we've been home where we've not had a medical professional here. lol

hello everyone, hope you're all having nice weekends:)

just a quick note from me as I'm just back from the antenatal assesment unit as baby had been REALLY quiet all day. I usually get lots of movement, especially if I make an effort to pay attention, drink a cold drink, lie on my side etc. Today I'd had a few kicks/movements at best all day, even after drinking two pints of icy water and lying down for an hour. I went in and got monitored, baby soon started kicking as much as ever and all is ok .

The staff were so nice and at no point was I made to feel as if I was over reacting or being silly or wasting anyone's time. I'm so glad I went in and urge anyone else to do the same if they are worried

Try not to be gutted sexymouse, it's still early days and you're right a healthy baby is most important, sounds like he has a good healthy appetite! You can only do your best x:)

colliI think that's what usually happens - as soon as the baby realises it's stuck to a monitor it decides to show off They told me at last mw appointment to go in if I have reduced movements etc and not to worry if it's a false alarm, I think they get it all the time!

Unless it's my child and then he just misbehaves and scares me half to death. Last time resulted in a very detailed scan though where we got to see him wiggling his toes so I can't complain too much.

I will try my best to BF, I will express at least the first couple of weeks if she cannot latch and give that through a syringe or something, but neither my DH or I breastfed when we were babies, and I think we are ok. I do believe BF is better and I will give it a go, there are many positives in BF for everyone, but I also believe that baby is happy when you are happy, so I do not really want to stress too much (ie. feeling guilty or a failure if it does not work). I will give her the colostrum for sure whatever it takes, plus I will try for at least a few weeks, hopefully we would both sort out whatever the issue if there is one, but DH and I have decided to see how it goes and accept whatever in terms of feeding.

At the moment my baby moves often, but every time she is a bit quiet for hours, I get really worried and start poking around the belly, eating and telling her to wake up! Lol I can totally understand the need to go to be checked!

DH had a nesting day, today he wanted to sort out most of it, buy most of what was needed and organize the baby's room. He says 10 weeks is nothing and he wants the whole room sort out asap, so everything is ready... gosh, I feel like it really is close now! I kept saying that it is still over two months, maybe even almost three! But counted in weeks the time seems nothing!

I know!! I can't believe my due date is Wednesday! I don't know if it's wishful thinking or not but I don't feel like it will be too much longer. I hope not anyway lol x

Nice to see you again CherryDrop. I'm sorry to hear of your redundancy but glad the pay was enough to help you out in the short-term.
Marta - my DH has been nesting too! Although his own way of nesting is to panic like a headless chicken without doing much. Bless! He moaned about the office being untidy!!?? Not sure how that affects a baby but hey ho, here I am trying to get things organised in the office. Well, at least I've got my poang chair up and we'll get the moses basket up tomorrow after the workmen have left.

I'm usually alone at home and it's just so weird having so many people around. And the noise!!
