  • I called two taxi firms as I've heard they wouldn't take anyone in labour and they did say they wouldn't be happy to take me. I didn't give my name though and called off my landline, so could maybe call from my mob instead, and just try to pretend I'm not in labour! As far as I know they want me there from the very beginning, so it might not be too obvious anyway!

When is your next midwife appointment hun? I would get her to double check when you need to go to the hospital, they will probably say when contractions are x amount of time apart for x amount of time but then at least you know. I need to go for early epidural but haven't a clue how early early is because you can be dilated by 1 or 2 cm for a few weeks before you go into labour. x

  • I asked my midwife but she couldn't be specific - just said as early as I feel ready ... erm, not helpful! My next appointment is on my due date (thursday!) so will check with her again and see!

If she can't tell you then when you get regular contractions, whether they be half hour apart or 7 minutes apart maybe ring the labour ward and explain the situation and ask them directly when they want you to go in, they will have much more experience of pregnant ladies with strep B and so will know the best timings.

My appointment is Wednesday, will you be offered a stretch and sweep on Thursday? I'm a bundle of emotions - happy, scared, excited etc. Can't believe this time next weekend we could both be sat here with our babies. Although I suppose in a way in your case it would be better if you could go a little overdue to give your mum the best chance of getting better in time for the birth xxx

  • It would, but I'm also feeling quite uncomfortable now, so quite keen for him to make an appearance soon!

Yes they have already told me they will offer a Stretch and Sweep, but I don't want it & have told them that already. I always thought my due date was 11th Oct, then at my 12 week scan they changed my due date to 4th Oct based on the baby's size. But as far as I'm concerned I could only be 39 weeks next week, and don't want any interference I don't need. What about you? Are you having one if offered?

I remember we both thought we were a day apart when we got our BFP's then I got moved forward a week and then you did too.

I am having a sweep and will be taking it, cos they were originally planning on inducing me early anyway and all the problems with RFM etc and my own health I just want him here now and to know he's ok. x

  • Yeah I would in your situation too. I suppose its just different things for different people isn't it? I think the pregnancy has felt so long in one way, probably because we've been pregnant for all of 2012 so far, but in another I feel quite sad about it being almost over, and losing the bump. I've enjoyed my bump!!

I know how much you want to meet your baby but honestly savour it, savour the silence, the hot tea and coffee, the time spent doing nothing, and most of all savour having baby all to yourself, just you and him it's really special xx

  • Uh I just get so bored Gilly. I've been on my feet all day today and now sat watching tv and just find it the dullest thing ever. I'm sure I'll long for quiet times once the baby is here, but I can't imagine it at the moment
