Welcome to the thread JT100! I can understand why you're feeling nervous even though this is not your first one! I know what you mean about not glooming... I'm not sure I've ever felt this tired in my life with rubbish hair, nails, skin and hormonal! Where is this glooming in pregnancy?? Anyway, don't worry if you're not able to post often but please feel free to whenever you feel like it/can/ need any help and support.
(I'll add you to the list above now).

Thanks for your kind welcome and for adding me to the list (baby is a girl BTW)
I am off work sick today - I have been trying my best but this morning I just could not face a class of 14 year olds! It is really unlike me to be off work, but this baby is pushing me to my limits ... I am falling apart!!

It seems that whooping cough has risen dramatically in the last year, so they are advising women between 28 & 38 weeks pregnant to get the vaccine, so the immunity is passed on to the baby.

Good Luck today Katyliz and Mummyof2 !

The article on Sky News about the whooping Cough vaccine did refer to Wales, but no mention of Northern Ireland. Does anybody know anything about it?

I'm 37 wks and just been to the mw yesterday but she's not mentioned anything. Maybe worth a call to the GP?

What is that Whooping Cough Booster and who gets that, me now or the baby when born?

Whooping cough booster is a booster vaccine for whooping cough (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whooping_cough) us to get before baby is born so that they're born immune - their immune system will build up defence against whooping cough through us getting the vaccine.

Ive not had any actual sickness yet (Im only 7 weeks though so theres still plenty of time!!). Ive had a bit of nausea in the afternoon but that’s about it! I had started to worry about it, or rather lack of it, after googling it but my mind is at ease now after chatting with my friend the other night who has 4 children and wasn’t sick with any of them! Im wondering if its something to do with blood type – Im Oneg and so is my friend… any of you lovely ladies Oneg and not suffered sickness or has my theory been blown out the water before I’ve had a chance to get it on paper and earn millions?!?!

Oh, nearly forgot to ask!! I tend to take my folic acid in the morning – if I do end up throwing up do I take another folic acid?!
  • CL - re: whooping cough - I just called my GP now (I'm avoiding housework!) and was told they haven't heard anything about the booster so we have to wait for now. She also said that, there's a chance that I might have had my baby by then so it may take a few weeks. If you hear anything different, could you give us a shout? Thanks

yep dont worry newcook, still plenty of time to experiance the joys of morning sickness :) mine started at 10 weeks, mainly in the afternoon though then passed after a few weeks and started again at the start of the third trimester but only for a couple of weeks :)

Looks like im going to miss out on the vaccine then, just watched on the news its for women up to 38 wks preganant, dont know how old baby has to be to be able to have it?

newcook my morning sickness didn't start till the day of my 13 week scan, still got it now at 29 weeks x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx
  • Newcook, re folic acid - I suffered really badly with all-day sickness from 5wk - 16wk and read that taking folic acid through the day made morning sickness worse. I started taking it at night just as I was climbing into bed so if it did cause extra nausea I would be asleep. Dont know if it was in my head that my MS eased through the day but I didnt care at that point!

  • If you can't have the jab, the baby gets it at 8 weeks anyway, it's just am extra precaution to protect tiny babies before the first jabs. It's coming in from Monday apparently, will ask my mw on Tuesday and report back :)
