toni -I agree with everyone else about the spelling of Maisie, that's definitely the original spelling. I think Maisy Mouse has corrupted the way people view the spelling! DH doesn't want to tell anyone my name list as he doesn't want the eventual choice influenced by other people's opinions, so I'll have to keep quiet for now.
thats a good idea, everyone has such different opinions on namesplus it feels like such a big responsibilty!

Oh grrr. Got one side panel of the cot sanded and wiped down, and now it's started raining. Can't tell whether it's stopped or not...looks like I'm gonna be in and out all afternoon
I feel like that about names too. I want to choose a name because it's something that OH and I like, and don't want other people's opinions really, so we haven't really told any family or friends what names we're thinking of. If they don't like what we choose well they'll just have to get over it
Aw Rups.....now I want fish and chips...0 -
Yep, everyone has very different opinions, and it should be up to the parents what they like. I'm just making sure I don't go for anything too weird that'll get a child bullied, or too strange a spelling. When we told the family my son's name (Oscar), we thought we'd never hear the end of it. All the it's a dogs name, or its a fish name comments drove me mad. So I haven't told them any of the options this time, and they can like it or lump it once I've decidedCross Stitch Cafe member no.800

i agree with not telling people. the other day my mum asked and i said we havent decided. she started going on about some other mixed couples she knows who have still kept sikh names within. well its really upto us! i should have said something but i just let it go. wont have people say anything now even my mum. she has had us and the chance to name us. grrr

How odd, I don't think I've ever met a fish or a dog called Oscar - thought would never have crossed my mind!
We live just down the road from a chip shop....so tempted to go for a stroll round there now...
Might venture back outside instead, looks like maybe it's stopped raining.0 -

People are so rude about name choices, we're keeping ours secret from people in real life - it's been hard enough to come up with names we agree on without other people putting their oar in! Having said that we still can't actually agree on some boys names to choose from, so may have to ask people for ideas in desperation if we still can't agree after baby arrives (and if it's a boy!) :rotfl:Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160

We kept our choices to ourselves. There's nothing worse than someone pulling a face when you tell them what you're thinking of calling your baby. At least once you've actually had it, they're usually too polite to look alarmed. We told everyone we were thinking of Spaniel for a boy and Fettucine for a girl. It was only after the birth that a few people said they thought we were serious."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
