Argh, the thread did not show me any updates and I missed lots of posts!!!
Idk what to have for lunch, I am veeeery lazy today and can't be bothered to cook anything for me!!

I did blood and urine tests at hospital last week, when do you think I should call and ask if they are ready?

Edit: the thanks button is not appearing for me, is there a daily limit or something?

if any of you are fans of 'Cold Feet' do you remember one of the first episodes when Jenny's heavily pregnant?! her house looks like a bombsite, the kitchen is cluttered with dirty plates and pots and pans etc and she is moaning about her hubby saying she should be nesting because the books say so... so her friend tells her to get a cleaning company in if she doesnt feel like cleaning!!!
  • DIY and housework do not bring on labour for me :(. I have filled and sanded the utility room walls, painted the ceiling and walls twice, waxed the kitchen tops, shifted all frozen food into the new freezer, washed and cleaned the utility floor, done three loads of washing and am now sat ironing.... and not a sausage

  • LittleMoog - hugs to you! I can totally appreciate what you said about hospitals, especially if you've never been to one before.

Mama Packs are a more eco-friendlier version of the bounty bags. You can get them by checking out their website and finding a local supplier or an online supplier, the packs are free but you do need to pay postage for them. It all comes in a canvas tote bag which and it's a lot more products for you to try and a lot less marketing and hard selling. Mine had cereal, sweets, nappies, wipes, tea bags, creams, ecover powder and some good leaflets such as a meningitis awareness card, breastfeeding leaflet and a moc for ecover. x

I was seriously considering arranging a home birth when we got home last night, but have decided I need to brave out the hospital, as my mum had serious problems in labour with me ending in an emergency CS, and I'm very similar to how she was in build, and have several similar medical conditions, so I'm not comfortable with a home birth either! Have talked it all over with DH and come up with a strategy to minimise the amount of time we spend at the hospital if at all possible, as we're only a couple of minutes drive away.
I'm also considering a home birth - I didn't like the look of the things I saw on the one midwife episode I managed to watch, all looked too hospitally for me. But, equally, should there be an emergency I'd like to be in hospital!! Having said that we're also not far from hospital at all so getting there shouldn't be a problem for us in an emergency (I'd reckon 10 mins from the call being made for an ambulance to arriving at hospital should ambulance be ready to leave from hospital). I felt a bit better after my tour on the weekend as the midwife led unit is a bit less hospitally (still not much!).
I think I'm going to speak to my friend, who's a retired midwife (and used to do home births!) to see what she says, and also ask the midwife when I next see her about the non-birthing-pool rooms at the midwife-led unit (there are only 2 rooms with pools so if they're in use no water birth, and we didn't get to see any of those up close). I'll also ask her about midwife availability for home birth.
To me it seems a bit non-sensical if I'm going to try have a calm, relaxing birth to suddenly need to get dressed again (and it will be cold outside, so will need to have lots of clothes) and go to hospital and change my surroundings entirely halfway through labour.

LittleMoog I freaked out the first time I went round Cygnet wing. It's amazing how real it makes it seem when you see it all for the first time, particularly when it's your first baby. Even now with number 3 I feel a bit of fear so it's completely normal.

moneypuddle and ikkle where do you get the energy for all the cleaning? I had a mini-clean yesterday and spent the whole afternoon laid up on the couch afterwards! Definitely no sign of baby here, still not even a single twinge. Some of the October babies have got to start coming soon!

I have officially reached complete total and utter boredom. How can I tell? - I unpacked baby's bag and IRONED her clothes and blanket. I even ironed a bib. My iron almost broke in shock from the overuse :rotfl:

back from the midwifes. and she was so nice. wish i see her during my labour. i wanted to chat to her for ages but she threw me out lol.. she was chatty and it was nice. my bump got measure and i have forgotten what she wrote in notes and she didnt mention. all she said its ok but just 1 cm over lol. then she took my bloods and blood pressure. she said she was astonished that at every appointment my bp is the same. touchwood is all i can say. then she asked about movements and i gave a wishy washy answer and she said, by now you should feel stuff not just flutters and i said i did, but like pulses, so we heard the heart beat and she said she heard kicks too. so phew. lol. then booked by 31 week one with the gp and waddled back home with shopping for tonights dinner as dh and bil are moving furniture for the carpets tomorrow. :)

ooohhh my baby's furniture got delivered today. :) so many boxes in the kitchen at the mo! yay!!!
