sI recommend you to go on a tour, they do them every Saturday and Sunday at 2pm, start at reception.
Ooh, thanks. Will try that this weekend then. They are literally a mile or so away from home so no trouble to get there. I also want to see if I can walk the distance easily (contemplating trying to walk there in labour, but we'll see if it's doable) - would like to time how long it takes at a 'normal' pace first! I thought I had to try an NHS antenatal class to see the inside so I've booked one but it's only 2 weeks before my due date
  • So I have been signed out of consultant care but still need to have a 34ish week scan!

Does anybody else's urine smell foul? :(

Congratulations on being signed off from consultant care dizsie. Although it's a pain having to have another scan, at least you get to see your baby again before it's born. :) My urine smells worse if I drink any type of coffee - I know that certain foods are meant to affect your wee eg. asparagus, sugar puffs etc. Maybe it's something you've eaten.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  • Shery - I'm glad you had it all checked out and I really hope it's not pre eclampsia...
Savage - I wouldn't worry too much about it, we all go at different times. I went to mine the other day and there was someone was due the following week! I can't say I've found mine particularly helpful so far but at least I'm having a go.
Dizsie - Congrats on being signed off!! Sorry I can't say I've noticed anything different with mine.

I am curious to know the difference between expected due date and actual labour from those who have had their babies, is there a way of knowing other than comparing previous lists with the current one? I wanted to see what is the average. I mean in the list here, like I said my EDD is the 8th/12, but if I give birth, let's say the 12th, then I would have been +4 days over EDD. Is there any list around like that to see other MSE's users differences? Just to get an idea of if it is more common to go over, under, and for how long.

For first babies, 5% appear on the due date, 25% before and 70% afterwards. Statistically then, it's more common for first babies to be late.

    I was 9 days late :)

  • Twinklie best of luck for today hun!

Just been talking to my Mum and told her that I am not even getting out of bed today to which I got a very indignant 'Why?' down the phone. Cue me losing the plot and being very arsey with her. Been awake since half past two this morning so I guess the lack of sleep is not doing anything to help my mood, lol. Have also been pretty much ignoring texts and phone calls cos I just can't bear repeating myself to everyone "No, baby is not here yet, yes I have seen the midwife, yes I have tried to help baby along, yes I am booked in for an induction...." you get the general idea! I know my true mates will understand why I am not answering, and to be honest if they don;t understand I haven't really got the energy to be bothered at the mo! God, I sound like such a killjoy - really don't mean to, I just know that I am better off dealing with this on my own at present.

both cats with me on the bed again, think that they have got used to me being at home now! It's nice that they stop with me although daft tabby follows me straight downstairs whenever I go to get a drink cos he thinks I will take pity on him and give him some more food!

Must do an online shop today as OH is moaning we don't have anything to eat - that's not actually true, we have lots in he just doesn't fancy any of it - or doesn't fancy actually having to cook something cos I am not up to making dinner in the evenings (that's when I feel at my worst and really sick). Might also order a bit of makeup online too - nothing much, just a few bits and pieces to try and cheer myself up a bit! Going to look at hairstyles too - not had my hair cut for over six months and the lack of shape is now driving me loopy! I promised myself I would have a funky new hairstyle after baby is born so best start deciding what I am going to have done!

    Hugs to all! xxx

Weirdly when i think about peoples first babies that i know it looks like this:

Mum (aka my birth) - a week early
    Nan A (aka mum's birth) - a week early
Nan B (aka dad birth) - on due date
    Auntie A - 4 weeks early
    Auntie B - 2 days late
    Auntie C - 1 week late
    Friend 1 - 2.5 weeks early
Friend 2 - Induced as 2 weeks late
    Friend 3 - 10 days Early
MIL (aka OH's birth) - a week early

so out of those 10... 6 were early, 1 was on due date and 3 were late!

MMM hugs for you - don't blame you not getting out of bed either. Think I'll be doing this is I go overdue too. A friend from NCT had her baby at 5.30am yesterday after the induction was started on Sunday afternoon! She was 13 days past her due date when she gave birth. I'm the last in the group to have mine, so I just know that I'm going to go over now.
