snowbean your birthplan doesn't have to be really detailed, but it is useful to have things down like what you would like to happen to the placenta (eg. natural third stage or the injection, who you want to cut the cord), if you want Dad to have skin-to-skin if you are unable to. Do you want Dad to announce the sex of the baby? Would you like to breastfeed after the birth etc. Do you want baby to be given vitamin K via injection or orally or not at all? Also if you definitely don't want pethidine, for this to be written down. I've written a sentence at the end of mine to say that I understand that for medical reasons, that I may have to change my plans but would like to be given the option to discuss any changes. I've also written in that if I had a c-section I'd like Moon to be with me, and that I don't want any visitors other than Moon.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Who do I tell if I want to donate my umbilical cord? Do I write it on the notes too? Tjey would throw it anyway, so I feel it would have a better use if we give it for research or development of treatments. Has anyone done it?Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Not all hospitals do that hun so you would need to ask your midwife if it's done at your local hospital xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Congrats milliebob and emsbet :j
Hi mountainmum
Sorry to hear your bad test news, snowbean
Labour vibes to the boldies
Had 28 week appt today. GTT came back fine, iron levels fine, bump measured at 29cm so pretty good, heartbeat really strong. Head downwards but that could easily change.
Mentioned to midwife that B Strep was detected last year and she had difficulty finding it in my medical notes. Finally have a copy of the letter confirming it. Guess it means I won't be leaving for the hospital at the last min. Better get some cash put aside for the car park.
One thing I did forget to ask the midwife: when should I get MATB1?Little man arrived 13 Dec 20120 -

feeling bleurgh...been asking DH about our anniversary which is in a weeks time. i wanted to go away somewhere in the uk but the way it looks like, we will just stay here and go for a quick dinner and rush back home. he is so boring and not a romantic at all. my birthday is next week, i am not even hoping for any surprises. i have booked a day off and will go and chill out by myself. i went to uni in Kingston, and i loved it there so will go there and relax.Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

We've decided to donate our cord blood. Leicester Royal and some of the local hospitals donate to Anthony Nolan. We had to put a sticker onto my notes showing consent.Little man arrived 13 Dec 20120 -

this is a random one, but has anyone been diagnosed with group b strep?0

Hi Rups!
Had GTT on 7th Sept as that's when they could fit me in at the local hospital. Did mean that the results were available for midwife to see at today's appt.
Didn't take too kindly to GTT. Nearly threw up half way through. Had to sit outside in the shade to try and stay cool. Couldn't face going through the fasting/Lucozade drinking again. Plus not good with needles and nearly passed out on the nurse during the first blood removal.
Do take a book/mobile internet to pass the time. Didn't fancy whatever morning tv prog they had on in the waiting room.
Not looking forward to the antibiotics. IV administration and dealing with labour probably won't be a good mix for me.
Really fancy some ice cream now. Might get hubby to seek some out!Little man arrived 13 Dec 20120 -
