MMM I feel your pain. My induction is tomorrow morning and I wanted a water birth too. I'm hoping they will still let me have one if I can avoid the drip! No mobile epidural at my hospital either. I don't much fancy opioids or epidural either.
I do however have a random pain in my left side. Fingers crossed it turns into something.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Thanks CL! It looks as if having a difference it is the most common and usual thing. I was looking at the birth dates from last list and I compared them to the expected due dates some of the members gave... all I got it is that it is extremely rare to give birth on the due date. From that last list, I had a look at 29 members dates from the current birthing list:
a) only 2 gave birth on their due date
b) 4 members had a difference of up to 4 days either side (50%)
c) 12 members had a difference of 5 to 10 days either side (50%), the most common thing
d) 7 members had a difference of 11 to 14 days (usually overdue)
e) only 4 had a difference of over two weeks (usually earlier)
Mummyoftwo, how did you calculate all those dates? I know the day I ovulated, the day I had implantation bleeding, my average lutheal phase, my average cycle... The EDD they gave me is 40 weeks from ovulation day. How do you calculate the cycle due date? I had regular cycles with irregular phases, the first phase was too lang and the second phase was short, which made it slightly more difficult to conceive because the egg only had 11 days to implant, and it can take up to 12.Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Oh snowbean I'm so sorry to hear that! Like others said it's not unusual not to pass first time. I think the other way round is true, it's unusual to pass first time so if you're saying you were pretty close, then next time will definitely be your time!
marta - thanks for the stats! It's all very interesting but I'm still not convinced we can predict when baby is born, unless it's a planned c-section
hugs bellola. Hope you recover well.
I've done it! I've put baby's clothes to wash:T just waiting for it to finish now...:jBaby girl born 3rd October 2012:j0 -
Afternoon ladies
Just back from my consultant appointment, which for once was actually on time. Saw a different registrar today, she was really good, reviewed all my results and has decided they don't need to see me again before the baby comes :j I have to request thyroid bloods at my 6 week check with GP, but that should be it on the thyroid front from now on. She's also written in my notes that I can use the birthing centre (midwife led) if there are no other concerns when I'm in labour. The reg I saw last time wouldn't give me an answer either way (and could barely speak English so I'm not sure she understood me. Couldn't write either, her notes were indecipherable even today's reg had to look up my last set of results on the PC as she coudln't read the notes!:rotfl:) Glad to have that clarified and written in big letters!
I've printed out that birthplan template, thanks Sexymouse for linking to it. I like the fact that it's quite a broad view of various different areas. I'd seen some others that were really too detailed for my tastes - I've never been in labour, so how can I really know what I'll want!? Just after I got pregnant I went to my friend's hen do, she's an anaesthetist and lots of her friends are as well, and all of them said not to bother with a detailed birth plan and not to rule anything out as they see women on a daily basis who are having epidurals and are really distressed that things aren't following the plan they made.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

That's sort of my view too, I'll have an ideal, but I'm not going to go in demanding to stick to it all the way through, as then you just get more upset that things aren't going to plan! None of us first timers have any idea what it will be like, and things can go pear shaped so I'm keeping an open mind. However, there are some things I definitely do or don't want which I'll make sure to put in, or if I have a preference for one type of intervention over another or something I'll note that too. I'm thinking more of a flowchart than a 'plan'
DH and I have discussed various options, and what I'd prefer for pain relief, skin-to-skin, 3rd stage etc, and that's what I'm noting down in my plan. The only thing I'm not keen on is pethidine, purely because when I've had opiate painkillers in the past they've sent me a bit loopy. DH's dad is a surgeon and he doesn't use pethidine for his patients any more as so many people were sick on it. NCT teacher recommended asking for a half/small dose which would wear off more quickly in case it didn't agree with you.
I also thought it was interesting that all the anaesthetists at the hen do were advising towards an epidural, apart from the only one that had actually given birth - she said that she felt that way before birth, but it was probably because she only sees women once they *need* an epidural, so they're really struggling, and the ones who do the whole thing in water/on entonox/pethidine she never sees and it had skewed her opinion of labour!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Afternoon all,
Sorry to hear you didn't pass your test snowbean - I didn't pass my test first time either - did on the second one but I remember crying my eyes out when I failed. Treat yourself to something nice to cheer yourself up and enjoy your cuddles with your furbaby. Virtual hugs from me too.
Just back from aquanatal, and one of my NCT friends brought her 6-day-old twins in to see us all afterwards! They were so gorgeous (a boy and a girl) and made me excited about meeting Bean. I've told the group that if I've not had the baby by next Wednesday that I'll definitely be coming along to aquanatal again as I'll need to shake him out as he'll only have 2 days left til MIL is back from her holiday. lol
I'm off to dry my hair now and have a little nap as the class always takes it out of me, particularly as I usually follow it with a trip round Sainsbugs to do a top-up shop.
Hugs to all who need or want them, and thinking of all the boldies, particularly mishka as I know you'll be at the hospital for your induction by now. xx

That's what I think my plan will have too (in particular if I end up in an emergency caesar - the type where it's general anaesthetic right now - I want OH to have the skin to skin).
I'm not keen on pethadine either, as I think it'll just make me out of it and possibly sick. Apparently diamorphine is a bit better (NCT classes yesterday!), but still same type of drug; might be worth bearing in mind if you are offered the choice (and decide you need it!).0 -
Aw, thanks for all the kind words guys. I stopped crying eventually
I'm gonna blame it on the hormones  I know it's not the end of the world, and I can take the test again, just really wanted to get it over and done with before Bean turns up, but that looks pretty unlikely now. So it's annoying that it will be a while before I can take it again. Never mind. Onwards and upwards.
My dad brought the cot round today, so I have no more excuses to get started revamping it (Needs sanding and repainting). I'm a bit undecided on what paint to go for though?
I haven't written a birth plan. Had meant to, but like so many other things I've never got around to it. Probably won't bother now. I know what I'd like to happen, and that I don't really want pethadine, and even more don't want an epidural. I'd really like a water birth, but trying not to get my hopes up as I know the hospital only have one pool. My OH knows (or at least seemed like he was listening ) about what I want and don't really want, so hopefully should be fine. But mostly I'm just trying not to get too much of a plan as I know I'll only be more disappointed if things don't work out that way.
Labour vibes to all those who are waiting. I keep thinking I'm really close to my due date and getting all excited, and then I remember I'm still only 37+4 :cool:0
