Rups at 18 weeks last time I went to the labour ward to be checked out, if in doubt ring them they are 24hours and would be able to get you in to be checked or let you know the right route to go.

    Might be helpful...

What is an early pregnancy unit?
The NHS has more than 250 early pregnancy units across the UK. They’re often found in gynaecology units, but they are staffed by a dedicated team of doctors and nurses in order to see women and their partners with problems during their first 13 weeks of pregnancy.
When should you go to an early pregnancy unit?
      1) If you are in the first 13 weeks of pregnancy and you experience bleeding. This could be anything from light spotting to something heavier than your usual period. You might see blood clots, brown discharge or other tissue. 2) If you are in the first 13 weeks of pregnancy and you are experiencing abdominal pain. This could be cramps in your tummy, along with pelvic or back pain. 3) If you are being sick all the time. 4) If you suspect for any reason you might be having a miscarriage. 5) If your GP or practice nurse has referred you.

dizsie you asked what soapnuts are - this link should give you a bit more info - it's not where I bought mine from (got them on ebay for £4.80 for 500g including p&p). Thought they'd be a good idea for baby clothing as they're meant to be great for sensitive skin, and make the clothes nice and soft without needing fabric softener. :TShould also save a bit of money on buying non-bio powders etc.

Went into town and briefly saw the olympic torch - for all of 2 seconds (the guy was running pretty fast and some [STRIKE]idiot[/STRIKE] kind person with a golfing umbrella put it right in my way just as I was about to take a picture). Got drenched, but did have a free lunch in starbucks (I get paid in luncheon vouchers for pinecone surveys and you can use them in there), as well as popping into Boots randomly and found a little jacket that I'd had my eye on for Bean was reduced, so I paid with points so got that free too. :D Got newborn size as it was literally the last one left, so hope he's not bigger than 9lb when he's born! Mind you I'd hope he wouldn't be bigger than that anyway from the point of view of giving birth to him.

Rups we have a seperate unit at our local hospital which is for post 16 weeks and is a drop-in for people if they have any concerns in between midwife visits. I think it's called a maternity assessment unit (ETA: it's called an antenatal day assessment unit), so is different from the EPU. Have a look in the front of your maternity notes - there should be a list of telephone numbers in there. Try not to worry too much, it's probably just the position of the baby causing the discomfort and nothing more sinister. It's definitely worth giving them a call though if it will put your mind at rest.

  • Rupsfrom what I can gather its different for each area. If your midwife said up to 20 weeks then she's prob in the know. I know the trust I work for and the trust that's looking after me have different guidelines for this.
If its ligament stretching etc you may just have to grind your teeth and take some paracetamol/codeine and crack on. There's nothing they can do for that. If there is you must share the secret ;) hugs though, its no nice to be uncomfortable all the time.

After all the chaos earlier, I missed my bus stop on the way home cos I was daydreaming! Next stop was the post office where I needed to pick up a letter anyway. Was my Paralympic tickets :) and a parcel, guess the postie though he was being helpful, luckily not too big. Was my pamper kits with I think 10 nappies and wipes. No coupons though :( now brings my total to 2006 nappies :) Only a short walk, but seemed to take forever! I'm so sore now all over from my crutches. Mustn't nap though cos I have OH's house key lol and he'll be stuck. I think that key safe might get fitted rather quickly now ;)

Bumbo a few friends have really recommended these. Especially as there's small they can fit in the back of the car if visiting friends etc so the baby is not stuck in the car seat. I think they're suitable from 3 months. I hit a nice blue one, almost new for a tenner on local Facebook group. About £40 new. Need a tray though, waiting for babies r us money off event to get one.

Thanks ladies. you all know me (by now you should) and how i start panicking. i will ring them tomorrow morning (EPU) and ask and also ring the main hospital number to ask the labour ward as i am not sure. i know the MW said to go to the EPU but if i go and i am not meant to go there, what a time waste. i just want to ask what the pain is as its annoying me and not like one before. :(
