Snowyz81 I would definately talk to your GP about how your feeling. I dont think they would just fob you off and if they did try to dont accept it. I think, however, given your history they would listen to you and try to help. There are so many things out there to help people with depression but its finding what works for you as not everyone will like the same thing. Good luck and I hope things improve for you.

Has anyone heard if Rebekah is having mummy cuddles now? My DH has decided that he is getting agitated over waiting for baby girl. He doesn't want her to come just yet as we are not quite ready for her but he also feels its like waiting for Christmas and is really excited and wants her to arrive tomorrow!! Its still not real for me yet despite the fact that I only have 3 more weeks, but I've decided that it wont feel real till she is here and I am having cuddles.

Still got to write my birthplan. Was discussing with DH about whether we want her cleaned up before she is put on me and although there is a part of me that does we are both thinking we would like to have cuddles straight away. I'm just worried that I will be like 'oh my god thats disgusting clean her up.'

So I have been wondering what this perineal massage thing was all about (didn't have a clue) and googled it. Not quite sure what to make of it or how to do it despite having read instructions - drew the line at watching youtube videos on it - and I was wondering if anyone is doing it?

Also for those of you who have bought hypno birthing cds any you would recommend? It's probably too late for me seeing that I am 37 weeks but hey may be worth giving it a go.

For cat owners on here I have found this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Clippasafe-Cot-Bed-Cat-Net/dp/B0006H4PEY/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342440943&sr=8-1-fkmr0 which seems to be good for detering cats etc and keeping them out of the cot when baby isn't in it. I had been told my m+p staff there was no such thing as its a safety thing but think its just because they dont sell it.

Hope everyone is well. Off to do some uni work now before baby girl arrives
  • Hello again!

Well I thought I'll drive myself to hospital for my bloods etc. so eventually after a couple of wobbles I get my stuff and hobble outside. Went to open my car and would you believe my car and house keys are inside my house :-( to say I wasn't amused is an understatement! Luckily I had money and there's a bus stop just around the corner. OH works near the hospital too so have stolen his key.
Got bloods done. No midwife there on Mondays, just thought she was always there. My scan appt that's meant to be done before next Tuesday (28week growth scan) isn't until 20th August!! I'll be 37 weeks! So they're ringing me back this afternoon.

Snowy are you currently on antidepressants? I've been very low in mood for ages. Also a history of depression too so obv people have been watching me closely. I had CBT about 4yrs ago which was wonderful but like you now I find it hard to put those strategies in place. It's normally my poor OH who comes home to me in a manic tearful state. I spoke to my midwife who was wonderful. She offered me counselling which I declined at this stage as most of the problems are due to pain/being mainly housebound. But she told me there's a big drive in recognising antenatal depression. I saw my gp a few days later as suggested by midwife. I'm on antidepressants as part of my pain management plan so to start me on another isnt a good combination. But the midwife will refer me to counselling etc if I change my mind. so I would say speak to whichever one you're most comfortable with and go from there. Maybe start some antidepressants now? Other things they suggested to me we're getting to a mum and bumps coffee morning to meet others that kinda thing. I did say I was part of this group which has been amazing in keeping me company :-) big hugs hun. You can always pm me if you want xxx

For anyone interested, Mothercare have a flashsale advertised on facebook. They are selling the Mam Starter Kit half price before 4pm.

    This is it here.

Add it to your basket and type in code MAM at the checkout. Hopefully it helps someone, these bottles are fab! Believe me we've tried them all (TT, Avent & Dr Brown)

AMC I've bought the Little Lamb disposable nappies but as this is my first I've not tried them before! I read loads of stuff on the net about all the diff types out there and looked at reviews from other Mums; I know there are other nappies out there but we decided that these were the best ones for us. I was lucky enough to get 20 Size 1 nappies + wraps (10No. I think) 20 bamboo liners and 20 fleece liners - all brand new - for a bargain price on ebay, but when the facebook link came up with a second sale and it had 10 Size 2 nappies for £35 I just had to order them! ...

has anyone seen the Bumbo seats btw? http://www.bumbo.com/
OH step sister has one for her little girl - it looked pretty good, but was just wondering what other people thought of them? She has offered it to us when our LO comes along - it is a pink one though and OH says that's fione if we have a girl, lol!

I bought a bumbo off ebay following a friend's rave review and another has seen it since and said it's great, so go with it! Mine is blue - no idea if it's a girl or a boy I'm having though!

I did the same with Little Lambs - I got size 1's in their first sale a good few weeks back, then when their first FB sale came up figured at that price it was too good to give up and bought some size 2's as well :D

elj my next MW appointment is at 41+1 on Friday. I guess I will be able to get another sweep then and if it doesn't work will be given an induction date.

Sending labour vibes! I hope your baby comes quicker than mine! ;) I was alright up till about 8 days over and then each day since I have just felt rubbish and a bit upset about it all. I keep seeing people with babies and wondering if I will ever have mine :p silly and over dramatic I know!! Ah well, guess it means that more cleaning, organizing and batch cooking is in order!

Think baby gyms are the bars that go over the top with dangle toys on Hun. We've got the galt ring for bubs for Christmas x

If you ever go to the white rose they had loads of the blossom farm toys reduced in ELC.

Might have a look. Yeah the Galt farm one does have dangly bits but they don't show on that photo

Taadaa – We don't really have contact with OH's parents at all so I doubt they will help out with anything, although his nan and granddad bought us our cot. My parents have been great. They have bought us
    - some outfits
    - a tumble dryer so we can dry baby's towels and clothes
    - teddies etc
    - the car seat
    - the pram
    - and then helped out with all sorts of other stuff like re-fitting our wardrobe with shelving etc
