We're going to do a "wait and see" tactic before buying a monitor too toni - lots of people say that they aren't necessary, and we have a friend who has a baby at the moment who may gift us hers when our little one is born. I also haven't got a room thermometer yet either.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Our monitor has a thermometer on it but we travel a lot back to our hometown so I like the idea of being able to take it with us as PIL have a ridiculously hot house so I like the idea of being able to keep an eye on the temp.

We'll probably only use it for a while but it didn't cost much so it doesn't matter.

    Morning all :)

Hope you all had nice weekends? DH and I did nothing at all, just vegged on the sofa all weekend, apart from the odd spot of housework and cooking. It was lush :p making the most of being just the two of us for a little while longer.

I got loads of knitting done, and finished my last 0-3 sized piece. Not making too much as MIL and DH's grandma are also knitting, and I'm assuming they're making newborn things. Don't want to end up with more than we can use so I've just made 2 cardies and a jumper. I'm going to start making 3-6 month sizes next, starting with a lovely hoodie cardigan :). I've been using up the odd balls left over from other patterns but now I need to go and buy some new wool as I've almost run out. Started a patchwork style blanket last night to use up some more odds and ends, knitted the first of 20 squares!

I’m a bit worried I might be developing a urine infection :o I’ve never had one before so not sure! (tmi alert!) Whenever I pee I feel a bit achy afterwards, and like I haven’t quite emptied my bladder. If I try to go again it’s uncomfortable, and there’s only a trickle. Any ideas anyone? Will acquire a sample pot from work today so I can get a sample to take to midwife tomorrow if it still feels weird – they have a drop in clinic on Tuesday afternoons.

It could just be pressure on your bladder from the baby LittleMoog, but it's better to get checked out just in case. Our NCT teacher told us the other day that when the baby is pressing on the bladder it can make you feel like it's full and desperate for a wee, but when you try to go, you only get a trickle and for Dad's to be patient with us if we say we need to go when we've only just been. lol

On a completely unrelated note, I've just ordered some soap nuts to wash Bean's clothes etc in off ebay after a recommendation on the boards - will let you know when they arrive if they're any good. Need to post the cheque first and then wait for it to clear.

Nice chair Clarissa, you may want a throw or something for night feeds if its leather as the cold will wake you up!

SM- sounds like a UTI to me, may be worth ringing your GP to be on the safe side and dropping off a sample today so they can get you some antibiotics if it is one. Touch wood this time I haven't had one yet but with DD I had a recurrent UTI that lasted about 4 months and needed double dose antibiotics). Apparently while you are PG you need higher antibiotics than normal (according to the Registrar I saw at the hospital at the time), which is why mine kept coming back. may be worth a query.

So tired, only managed to doze off and on since 2am, at least getting up in the night wont be such a shock now! Think I !!!!!!ed up my leg yesterday, my knee hurt whenever i moved and my hop was getting sore laying on one side for too long. Added to that I bashed my hand on the airing cupboard door last night in frustration at DH which still hurts and is making my arm ache, not the most comfortable night!

DD wouldnt give me a kiss goodnight last night and like the big grown up I am I cried, she's only 2 and going through a bit of a precocious stage so should be used to it but just really got to me.

Ah well, hoping not too much longer now, consultant again on Thursday, MW next week although she said this week she prob won't see me as may have had the baby by then. Just hoping that I don't go over as getting fed up with being so massive now.

    Whoa, epic post again- sorry!!

SM, I have the pressure on bladder thing normally, I’m *always* peeing! I think Beanie likes to use my bladder as a trampoline/cushion :rotfl: This feels different though, quite uncomfortable :(

Will get a sample cup from work today so I can do a sample in the morning if it’s no better. My next MW appointment isn’t until the 24th, don’t want to leave it that long.

Wow ikkle - you're super organised then! If only I had somewhere to store everything, I'd hopefully be the same. Need to pin Moon down as to when we're going to get the furniture, and then I'm nesting big-style! Moon will have no idea what has hit him! lol

Big hugs Gemma - sounds like you're going through it at the moment. I know one of my friends is at the end of her tether as her DD1 is 2 and she had a second daughter in April and DD1 is playing her up a lot! Hope your hand and leg feel better soon.

Well I'm typing this from bed -- first day of maternity leave woo hoo! Well officially it's annual leave and my mat leave starts on 1st August but whatever!

Re nursing chairs. I rang one of my bosses before I left work on Friday and he asked me what I still need for the baby... Put me on the spot a bit as he said something substantial. He asked me if I'd got one of those rockers I'd been "going on about" and I said no, cos it was like £170! Well he said to order it and he'll give me the money, which completely stunned me! Have ordered it this morning!

We tried it a few months ago when we were looking for furniture and it was a.m.a.z.i.n.g Got to find somewhere to put it now!!

Re grandparents purchases. Our baby will be the first grandchild in the family and have been so lucky with our parents. My parents bought us the pram and OH's parents bought us the nursery furniture.

Re thermometers. I found and bought this one on Kiddicare and you can use it both as a bath thermometer and room thermometer for £15:

Sat up a bit quickly this morning and felt a pain under my bump in the right hand side. Made me feel a bit light headed but I'm sure it's just a muscle I've pulled. Of course my first thought was -- OMG it's labour! Have got my 36 week appointment with the GP tonight so will check anyway.

Kitchen is STILL being done and hob and oven have been disconnected and won't be re-connected until next Monday at the earliest! Can't afford takeaways and I don't particularly rate microwave meals, so I'm hitting Tesco's for cooked chicken, salad, coleslaw, quiche and those ready made pastas and cous cous salads. Going Pizza Express tonight though with the girls yay!
