hello!
I'm back from my birthday lunch. Was lovely, bump got lots of lovely attention from OH's family toowas his cousin's (well his dads cousin) 80th And his daughters 50th birthday. He's starting radiotherapy tomorrow for a cancer of his thyroid so was a lovely day. Am shattered though now!
Oog hello and congratulations on your little one! What cd did you have? I'm wanting to try one. Must remember to start my massaging too!
Jedi what hypnobirthing cd do you have? Enjoy your first day of maternity leave tomorrow
RJH I have similar things. Normally mine is around 3pm where I feel really wobbly/weak and really hot.
Emsbet yes I'm struggling without my daily nap today lol. I think though being at home makes napping more tempting. As my mum says its hard work doing nothing lol. But at this stage I think it's normal to be tired.
I'm getting periods of nausea, think one of the weekly emails said at this point it returns. Although I forget why now! But I'm already in bed and may doze off very soon lol
Taadaa re:parent's helping. MIL offered to buy the cot bed and mattress. She only offered a couple of weeks ago so we'd acquired a free one so that's nice we can pick one. FIL hasn't as such, but he's helped us loads with the house and things not connected with baby. My mum has got the baby gym I wanted (she came to visit last ,onto and we already had most things), but she is doing a cross stitch sampler for the nursery. I know the kits aren't cheap and she'll get it professionally framed etc so it's more personal than practical.
Toni welcome and congrats
Antenatal classes I guess every area is different. We had to book ourselves at 18 weeks and ours start on Tuesday argh! Ours are NHS but you can pick different places, times etc so guess its easier to book ones that suit you. We did it through the hospital website.
Twinklie good lick for tomorrow, hope the kids behave
Rebekah wishing you all the best for tomorrow. I think I remember you not having Internet on your phone. Will have to stalk your Facebook for updates/comments. But please let us know when little lady arrivesenjoy your evening of chilling with hubby. Sounds like a typical lazy evening for us too. Re:shaving I'm sure someone said not to shave yourself, but unless your hospital is different the surgeon/nurse will dry shave there with the cheapest razor and sometimes you get that horrible rash after. Might be worth taking a nice sharp razor and do it once you're there.
Nutella glad LO behaved on the plane

Went really well thanks - she's 2 months now and was staring curiously at all the lights and people at the airport and then proceeded to fall asleep as soon as we got on the plane (before take-off)! I was worried I'd be one of those people with a screaming baby that no one wants to sit next to, but she turned out to be the perfect travel companion
Parents with restless toddlers seemed to struggle a lot more; waiting and queueing and staying put in a seat = generally not very popular!
Thanks Nutella. I'm planning to take my LO on a plane when he's 3 months old and everyone keeps telling me I must be mad. I did read online that small babies generally sleep all the time and are not too troublesome and you just confirmed that.0 -
Just read online that you may want to shave 1-2 inches below where the hair starts to grow Rebekah. Also, don't forget to take off any nailvarnish if you are wearing any as they look at your nails to monitor you apparently. Another tip was to ask for the catheter to be inserted after you've had the epidural etc.
Struggled to eat i'm sooo nervous! I know it's weird this time tomorrow I will no longer be pregnant. Madness. You forget it's a means to an end. Felt like I was going to be pregnant for ever lol. Keep your eyes on facebook - feel free to post a picture on here as I won't be out for a few days or so. And prob not online til at least the weekend. Still feel like there is stuff I should be doing but don't know what! lol.0 -

I don't think you're madObviously all babies are different, but personally I'd imagine they make easier travel companions before they're mobile and before they've started teething! As long as you're prepared and have everything you need in your hand luggage (which isn't really any different from what you'd have in your changing bag, apart from maybe add a favourite toy to keep them occupied if you have to wait around etc.) I see no reason not to travel with a 3-month old. Just leave plenty of time for security, any plane changes etc. as everything takes longer with a baby and you need to be able to suddenly change a nappy if necessary! If you end up bottlefeeding, then baby milk is exempt from the liquid ban, but you have to be prepared to taste the milk in front of the security people. It's recommended that you try to feed LO during take-off and landing to protect their ear drums (the sucking helps, apparently) but to not wake them to feed if they're already asleep. My LO slept through take-off twice and landing once (wasn't a direct flight, so had to change once) - I didn't feed her during the second landing and she was absolutely fine, but again, babies vary... Don't listen to everyone else - if you're happy to travel, then go for it
* PS: If you're going abroad and there's a long waiting list to register the baby in your area, you may want to budget for a fast track passport. We had to wait 5 weeks to register LO and hence get a birth certificate, and you can't apply for a passport until you have a birth certificate. Add to that the 6-8 weeks 'average' processing time for a passport, and you'll be in for a nervous wait... A fast track passport does cost you more, but you get it in 7 days *0 -
good luck for tomorrow rebekah!0

The nail varnish thing is for tracking your oxygen levels. I'm not allowed to wear any when I go in for my lung checks (pre-existing condition).Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Thanks Nutella for all the tips. I didn't realise we may have to wait to register him  I was sure it would take a couple of days to get the birth certificate.
Can you please tell me if you gate checked your pram? I read horror stories about prams getting broken on planes and wouldn't really like to end up without one abroad. We would be changing planes so figured out we could use the pram in between flights rather than checking it in.
Rebekah - good luck for tomorrow. It does look like you're going to beat me to it after all. It must feel weird knowing the exact date of your baby being born.
It looks like my sweep was not successful after all. Had lots of cramps on Friday and then contractions at night. Then nothing all Saturday and contractions at night and lost my mucus plug (sorry, TMI). And now nothing all day again. Frustrating.0 -
Speaking offoo foo hair. How do I prepare it for caesarean.I have scissored and then electric razored but not close shaved. How do they want it?!
Good luck for tomorrow, Rebekah!
When I had my section. I shaved the top inch of hair off. When I was getting ready a nurse came to offer her services to shave me with a cheap Bic razor. I politely declined. I had to shower before to make sure all deodorant, make up and perfume were removed. I would clean shave the top in the morning.
Also, I wish someone had stressed to me to have a cool shower the next morning. A lot of women (including me) faint in the shower, as the steam makes you light headed when you have lost a bit of blood.0 -

You might not have to wait that long where you are - London is particularly bad apparently; some areas are failing to meet the legal 42-day requirement! But I think this is 21 days in Scotland, so you might be OK?!... But you could always call your local register office to check what the waiting lists are like, and make sure you book an appointment as soon as LO is born.
I didn't bring my pram - was lucky and able to borrow one where I was going, but I'll need to bring one next time I travel (when LO will be 4 and a bit months) and I've heard the horror stories too...This time I carried LO in a sling, but like you I'm thinking gate checking is the way forward so you can use it in transit and reduce the likelihood of it breaking. Some airlines let you do this, and some don't, so just make sure yours does. Apparently airlines have to pay up if they break a well-wrapped pram, but I can only imagine the faff if you're abroad... Stokke does a bag called PramPack, which looks like it would protect prams really well, but it's so expensive (£135 from Kiddicare) you might as well buy a new pram!
