thank you for all the tips.
don't you need stuff like sudo cream etc? i think i would end up carrying way too much.
i must from the beginning not go mad. might as well shove my wallet etc in there as dont want the hassle of an additional handbag.

If you do carry sudocrem it's better to carry one of the tiny sample pots, there is plenty in them anyway, you don't need much. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Also you don't use sudocrem every nappy change hun, only use it if and when the baby needs it.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Hello all, still lurking!
Welcome to the newbies
Next changing bag I've also got thisits does fit lots in it. It comes with its own changing mat, thermal bottle holder/case etc. I can easily fit the nappies, wipes, nappy sacks and couple of spare vests/sleep suits in. With plenty of space for other 'useful items' that might come in handy! Also it's a nice large pocket on one side that's useful for carrying hospital notes and baby's red book
Hats yes I was me that was old about SID and hats! As Molly said its really the first day or so. But I was in there for 4/5 days and bubba always had his hat. Well it was too big and he kept pulling it over his eyes and getting upset......silly boy! But community midwife thought they go way ott with their blanket rules.
Epidural and the munchies I think I was different, with the pre eclampsia I was on a fluid restriction anyway 80mls an hour. But the mess going in the drip were 10mls so persuaded them to give me the other 70mls by mouthit's clear fluid so water but also black tea or coffee. I knew this and requested tea and I got my carefully measured 70mls of black tea. Gutted though as had bout a yummy looking butty onroute to the hospital had to watch OH sitting there eating it
As it turns out I needed emergency section under GA, but as I was about to go under the anaesthetist made me drink this yucky drink, either omperazole or ranitidine he told me I needed them earlier. So all that no drinking to end up with thatAnd when I was awake etc after he popped in to say hi and I told him that I remembered that nasty tasting liquid and I wasn't impressed haha!
But as a general rule they'll starve you 'just incase' this isn't just for birthing but surgery in general for everyone.
Rups I joined this thread about 14 weeks. It sounds scary all this talk of hospital bags etc. but the way I looked at it is you've got more time to think about what you'd like, the things you'd like to buy or stock up on. I guess I also was off work so had time to sit on here all day. But I learnt so much and hearing other people's experiences helped me to think what I wanted. I've a note doc on my iPad where I copied and pasted ideas onto. It might be something someone packed for hospital or something like that.
Although in the end I didn't have a bag packed and it was all chaos lol, but still embrace it hun
SM if you want any order to the bag pls pack it now. I got lots of lovely things for my bag and found them once I got home as I couldn't remember exactly where I'd put them from the hospital bed so OH couldn't find them lol. I've a ton of lucozade, glucose sweets and other random stuff!
We went to the paralympics yday (Sunday) was amazing. I think Zachary must be the youngest there at 11days. Omg the attention he got was mad! Got some pics with him and mandeville, the mascot guy whoever he is and in general. He slept through it all though. I think the stadium has 60,000 ppl and when we won gold was so loud! But he just slept away! But he was thereso tired last night but so glad we went, was amazing!
Right little mr milk monster has finished, this daisy is tired!
Wishing lots of labour vibes to the boldies and hugs to all that need them

Morning all! Just dropping in to say hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine as better than expected; getting lots of visitors now and still have things planned for most days this week! I'm still feeling pretty good and like to keep active whilst I can, although I also know that I need to get some rest and naps in as well!
Re changing bags, I have my heart set on a skip hop camoflouge one, but I can only find it on ebay so ill have to bid on it and hope for the best. Have the free boots one packed at mo for hospital but it really is quite small and is not going to do when baby is a bit older and I need to carry more things around.
OH and I have been guessing when LO is going to arrive - I still say in the next few days (that's prob wishful thinking) and OH says this Saturday/Sunday. Haven't had any real 'shows' of labour though apart from on-off period pains for the last couple of weeks. Ah well, baby will be here when he's ready!
Right, off to do a bit more (internet) christmas shopping - got most of it done, just a few bits and pieces still to get!
Hugs to all! x0 -
The first baby of our NCT group has just been announced - he's very cute! Making it seem very real now though! He was born 3 days early. I'm the last on the list in terms of delivery date.
ETA: Another announcement from the group to say her little boy arrived on 29th August - 2 announcements in one day! Starting to get nervous now!Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -

slept weirdly again even though had that pillow. the trains were very packed today and i was standing and started getting back ache.feel awkward to ask people for a seat though. grrr. luckily on the tube a girl offered me one.
things with me and DH are still a bit weird and i felt really weird. there were those awkward silences. oh well. i am too tired to go on and on about it. he said yest he was also upset, that i am becoming friendly with his female friends. is there anything wrong with that?
also this morning, i was having my pregnacare vitamins and now i am not sure if i have taken the cod one twice. gulp! hope its not too harmful if i have as it says on the packet not to exceed. i just forgot within second whether i had taken it.weird day already.
on the positive, i am 24 weeks today! yay!!!:)Became Mrs H on the 1st of October 2011!!

Welcome mayforher!elisabeth854 wrote: »Rups thats the bag i quite like...although i have just looked at it again and it appears it doesn't have a long strap?!
I believe that particular bag has a long strap as well as two smaller ones, one on each side so that bag is quite high up.
SM - I'm surprised you haven't got your hospital bag ready yet! You sound so organised! I need to start getting mine ready soon...
I had a lovely week/weekend. Met a few friends who I hadn't seen for a while and it was lovely. One of them was telling me baby will be late as bump is really high up still but I have hopes!
I'm back to normal life now though. I'm starting to really struggle with doing things due to tiredness. Will see how it goes this week but may need an alternative plan re: studying.
Weather forecast says it'll be a lovely day:j:jBaby girl born 3rd October 2012:j0 -
Happy V Day Rups.
