  • Does ANYBODY have a miracle cure for sleeping???

I can lie awake all night. I'm still working full time and just cannot sleep at all, but I dont think its related to work at all. I just lie awake from about 11pm till 5am then manage to get an hours or two before having to get up for work. I've tried all the usual remedies - bath, hot drink, relaxing, notepad by the end to mark down any worries etc but nothing is working :( I think its mostly down to my restless legs.

When I can't sleep I listen to audiobooks on tape (old skool ;) ) I have the first 6 harry potters which are brilliant as read by Stephen Fry. I put the volume just loud enough to hear so I have to concentrate on it a bit, and it helps me block everything out so I can drift off. Each side is 45 mins, but I'm normally asleep after 10-20 mins. I had to do it this morning after being kicked solidly for about 40 minutes while suffering with heartburn! The joys of pregnancy ;)

hiya, if you're anything like me i test myself regular anyway and am very aware of increased thirst tiredness ect but i've none of that, my consultant said i could have it if i wanted it but he's not insisting and i dont see the need, you can refuse any tests during pregnancy, i'm not saying you should, but you do have that right. just out of curiosity how old is your son and what regime is he on (pm me if you'd rather):D

You sound the same as me lol i am always pinching his strips and testing and i do know all the signs, i am not over weight and have never had any problems while being pregnant.
I just feel i will be taking up an appointment that someone else could be having at the hospital when i dont there is any need.
My son getting diabetes was just very bad luck, he was 2 when we first found out and came so close to him being in a diabetic coma so i am always testing. My son is now 14 so have had many years of testing he was on 2 injections a day which then changed to 4 a day and for the past year and a half he has been on the insulin pump and getting on very well with it and never wants to change back, he also has a lot less hypos to which is a huge bonus

I think pregnancy does stuff your sleep up, I'm not uncomfortable or anything but am certainly sleeping lighter than normal and waking up in the night (which is unusual for me) - even though I don't stay awake long thankfully. I suppose you could try the hypnobirthing CDs (mine are on their way) - supposed to be relaxing and even if you don't fall asleep hopefully they'll help when the labour arrives!

You can't unless its your first and your on maternity leave

I get told to get more sleep now and I'm like how I have a 6 year old who's on school holidays and a 1.5 year old! Then next week i'm back to school runs of getting up at 7am!

I was saying last night how I am dreading doing the school run with the night feeds and also a toddler. I was told go to sleep after I dropped eldest off, ok but what do I do with my 1.5 year old? Some people really do not think before they speak.

I know I napped today but that is very rare as my toddler doesn't usually take day time naps and the afternoons are the worse around the time I do the school run.

I remember when I had DD2 I would drop my daughter at school, go back to the car and wake up an hour later, I was that tired I did not realise I was nodding off. A few times I fell asleep in the car as soon as I parked outside the house and only to wake by the baby crying for her feed :rotfl:

The good thing with your first is you can sleep during the day whilst they sleep. OK you'll sleep the days away and wont get much done so it can be a bit annoying but you will be so tired you wont have much choice.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

Well I've had quite a productive afternoon. Couldn't have a nap as MIL came over as she wanted to cut down some ivy that is growing up her conservatory that can only be accessed from our side of the garden. Her comment today: "you're looking like things are ready to get moving. Do you feel big?" I nearly replied, "Only when people imply that I look it!" but I resisted the urge and just said, "no". I made her a cup of tea and chatted politely to her when she'd finished. I managed to fold a whole load of towels (including the one for my hospital bag, so shall pack that this week), hang out one load of washing on the line, and put another load of washing in the machine in the time it took her to do the gardening. Since she's been gone, I've managed to make some plum bread (in the oven at the moment) and have hung out the other load of washing. :) Hope this sudden load of energy isn't going to mean I'm knackered tomorrow for my aquanatal class.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
