Now i'm going to sound like i will be a bad mum but i'm not buying the whole 'brand suits baby' thing.... i have a few friends who pander (this is what i describe it as) and most who don't... i have bought various brands and my baby will wear whatever i have in stock!!! Same with bio/non-bio washing powder... my frineds who have lovely, happy, non-whiney kids (two are midwfies) are the ones who continue making noise after baby has gone to bed, wash with whatever powder is on offer, use talc powder  and use a nappy they can find...afterall the nursery use the nappies they want to use!!!

Obviously the above is not a general rant at those who do stick to do's and dont's ... they are just my observations of the people i know so all i can base it on!!!

Freddie's been in Pampers, Huggies and Tesco's own. I've discovered that it's not the brand of nappy that means you have leaks or not, it's how big the shit is :D

I guess it's natural to think 'oh, his nappy leaked a few times when he was in Huggies, therefore Huggies leak' but if I apply a bit more analysis, I'm not sure this is how it works (for Freddie at least). Basically, if he does a massive poo in a nappy that's already quite wet (bad mummy for not changing him enough!) it explodes everywhere regardless of brand of nappy.

    Morning all :)

My baby books arrived from Amazon yesterday, so spent the afternoon and evening having a flick through them. We got 2 Your Baby Week by Week, and First Time Parent. I like them both, the week by week one is more in depth, but the common sense approach in the first time parent one really appeals to me. Also got the baby led weaning book as we're both really keen to go down this route, but I'll save that to read at some point in the new year, or at least when I'm on ML! DH is feeling quite reassured as the first time parent one has pictures of how to change a nappy etc, which he's somehow avoided ever doing, despite having 5 nieces and nephews! Our NCT classes start soon as well, so hopefully we'll be prepared for all the practicalities in a few weeks! ;)

At what point does it become apparent that you might need a growth scan later on? Is it after the measurements at the 20 week scan or is it to do with how much weight you have put on/how big your bump measures? I found that fundal chart thingy in my notes yesterday and had no idea what it was supposed to show but I did remember people on here mentioning it!

Good luck KatyLiz hope the scan goes well :)

I was told from 16 weeks-ish I would need growth scans as there was a chance he wouldn't grow properly and I was exposed to parvo and have no immunity to it so they do extra scans to see if there is any sign of it affecting the baby.

I can't remember how far you are now? They started measuring fundal height at 25 weeks for me and the norm here is if you measure 4cm out either way then they refer you for a growth scan. So if you were say 28 weeks pregnant and they measured your fundal height and it was 30cm that would be fine but if it was 32cm they would refer you for a scan. x

KatyLiz - hope your scan goes well today and that little lady has been good and had a bit of a spurt x

Kitten - will be thinking of you today, LadyBoyd is nearly what they class as term anyway so hopefully the doctors and consultants etc will listen to what you have to say and help you. Hopefully then you will be able to relax when you have her in your arms xx

  • If I could go back in time...i'd go back to the day god created man and say 'oi mister...hows about changing women a little bit so that when they are pregnant their tummy goes seethrough so they can see that baby is ok' because i'm getting totally paranoid at the moment about wether baby will make it :(

I have no real reason to doubt it, but i just love him so much already that im scared :(

Anyone else vote for seethrough tummies?

I wouldn't want a permanently see-through tummy. But it would be good to have a peek down your top just to check all was ok.

Unfortunately this is it ladies, we will be constantly worrying about them for the rest of our lives! Hubby's mum still waits up for BIL when he's out at the weekend and he gets in about 4am!

Only see through when PG!!! It would be easy to buy a skin colour bump band to cover it up :) (Can't believe i'm actually thinking about this so much lol:o)

I know... I'm already hoping he doesn't bring home some tangerine, trout pout, miserable girly when he grows up...and that he doesn't leave screwed up tissues under his bed and that he doesn't want to be CFBC and then I get no grandkids, or that he doesn't get into hard drugs...aaahhhh:eek:the list is endless!!!!
