Huggies leaked wee for us, until we went up a size. Because of his shape, we were in size 4+ at only about 16lb, as soon as they leak, I know it is time to change up. I mostly use washables, but Nature Babycare are my favourite disposable. We had some free Huggies a little while ago though, and they were fine. Pampers leaked poo, so I took the unopened ones back and changed them for other brands, haven't touched them since.

Wipes, we can only use Huggies Pure, everything else brings him out in spots and I stop straight away. Even sensitive varieties.

My MA, I seem to remember I applied in advance and didn't hear for a long while, but once I asked them to start paying, the money arrived fairly quick?

On the growth scaan front, I think mine was fairly accurate? They say babies put on roughly 1/2 a pound a week till term, my growth scan said 6lb 6 at 34 weeks, and he was 9lb 6. However he was 10 days late, and I'm not sure what they're meant to put on after 40 weeks?

Kitten Pie, I hope everything turns out OK for you, I'm sure there's loads of us who think of you often, even if you don't 'know' us.
  • I'm planning on working until 38 weeks. I'm then taking 6 days holiday and starting my maternity leave on Sunday 30th sep. Baby due thurs 4th oct x

I'm not sure how the whole bank holiday thing works, but you must not be disadvantaged because of your mat leave. So your annual leave should continue to accue while you are on mat leave. Where I work if I resign I will be paid for the leave accrued. Or I can take it to delay my return to work. So normal rules regarding how much you can accrue and carry over should not apply. Maybe have a look at the direct.gov website, it can be useful sometimes.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

CL what happens with your work and bank holidays whilst you are off then? Do you get to add them to your holiday entitlement so you have 34 days in total? My work told me I lose the bank holidays because I am off anyway so benefit from them. I get 25 days annual leave plus bank hols but I only accrue the 25 days whilst I am off.

My work allow me to add the bank hols on to my holiday entitlement. So as my 9 months maternity leave is Dec to Aug, all the bank hols fall in this time, so I get an extra 9 days added to my holiday balance. When I looked it up I understood that you had to get what your contract said you got regarding bank hols. So if you only get SMP and you are on maternity leave when you have a bank hol, you are off work, but not getting paid, whilst everyone else is off, but on full pay. If your contract says you get certain bank hols off with pay, then you should either be paid a full day for that holiday on top of your SMP, or have it added to your holiday balance. Otherwise you are being treated less favourably for being on maternity leave, which is discrimination.

It went ok hun. He had a nice strong heartbeat. He's now head down, and looks like he's preparing himself for exit. He's dropped down a few centiles growth wise but is still within the 5-95% range so they have said that it's ok but I do have to have another scan. They can't understand why I'm not feeling movements as much anymore and so I have to keep an eye on them and if there are any quiet periods I have to go in for monitoring.

I have the anesthetist appointment next week and if he says my spine is ok for epidural/spinal block then I will be allowed to opt for a C-section. If my spine is too fused for the spinal block then we have to look into possible birthing positions because I can't be laid on my back and after last night I've learnt the whole limits to how far I am willing to spread my legs too as today has been a hassle and a half trying to walk, OH had to get a wheelchair at the hospital as I just couldn't walk any further. The only other alternative is section under general anesthetic and I really want to avoid that. So at the moment everything is dependent on bubs behaving and being active and the anesthetist next week. Then I have consultant, scan and my appointment with my normal midwife on the 5th so it's a very busy day.
