  • So definitely worth looking around then it seems! I am very confident in the water and fine with babies...infact on holiday i was with other peoples babies (under a year) and toddlers (under 2 years) in the water without armbands and had no problems so i'm thinking i should just go myself 2-3 times a week for the same money!!!

  • Hello :j

Been to the midwife today for my 34 week appointment. It was a good appointment. It's amazing how a different midwife can make you feel so much better than another one. We spoke about my Strep B, she tested my urine, and took my BP (100/68). They did find plus plus leukocytes (?) in my urine, and I completely forgot to ask what that was but have since had a google and it doesn't seem too much to worry about - just shows I'm fighting an infection by the sounds of it, which can only be a good thing.

I've not slept for the last week (a mixture of stress, restless legs and working myself up to not sleeping), so hoping for a better night's sleep tonight

Pleased to hear the midwife appointment went well moneypuddle and that you're feeling a bit better about the Strep B situation. Fingers crossed that the infection you're fighting is the Strep B and it'll have gone by the time bubs arrives - not sure if this is possible, but it's worth thinking positively. Hope you manage to get some sleep - I seem to have slept a lot better this week (into week 35) but don't know if that's the weather, or because my body is conserving energy now in preparation for the birth.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

    From divorcingjack on facebook:

Hi everyone! Sorry to be so late in announcing the arrival of Rory James on Friday at 9.43pm. Not long out of hospital after a bit of a traumatic 2 day labour, ending in EMCS under general but all worth it now as he is utterly utterly perfect.
Oh, forgot to say he was 6lbs 14 and 42+1 weeks.

I wouldn't buy too many Dizsiebubba, For the most part Huggies are absolutely crap for boys, I have only heard of a few mummys who actually like them and most of them have girls.

You will always get them on offer, and more and more places are getting funny about exchanging or taking them back without receipt so whatever you do buy make sure you keep the receipt! I'd say get enough in for the first month and then work from there. You don't know what brands will suit your little bundle either so you don't want to end up with a load of one if they're rubbish, same with wipes! xx

Congratulations again to LMM and to divorcingjack :) There seem to be loads of MSE babies arriving at the moment!

Glad it went well rjh - and at least you have a date now, so whatever happens it wont be too long until you meet baby!

Accuracy of growth scans? - I was just wondering if anyone knows the usual accuracy levels of the scans in terms of predicted weight? Reading LMM's fb post again I realised she was told yesterday that baby was already over 7lb, yet he was actually born at 6lb1oz. Quite a lot of us on here have been told our babies are too big or too small via growth scans, so it's got me pondering on how often they are accurate (or not!).

Now i'm going to sound like i will be a bad mum but i'm not buying the whole 'brand suits baby' thing.... i have a few friends who pander (this is what i describe it as) and most who don't... i have bought various brands and my baby will wear whatever i have in stock!!! Same with bio/non-bio washing powder... my frineds who have lovely, happy, non-whiney kids (two are midwfies) are the ones who continue making noise after baby has gone to bed, wash with whatever powder is on offer, use talc powder  and use a nappy they can find...afterall the nursery use the nappies they want to use!!!

Obviously the above is not a general rant at those who do stick to do's and dont's ... they are just my observations of the people i know so all i can base it on!!!

I'm sure they must be pretty accurate concerning size but perhaps they aren't so good at weight?
