I don't know about brand suits baby be I didn't like huggied last tone. Personal preference.

I have allergies and very sensitive skin so we only use sainsburus non bio as I break out in anything different.
love you lots like jelly tots :o

Now i'm going to sound like i will be a bad mum but i'm not buying the whole 'brand suits baby' thing.... i have a few friends who pander (this is what i describe it as) and most who don't... i have bought various brands and my baby will wear whatever i have in stock!!!
I have heard that one brand (I'm going reusable so the brand name didn't stick in my mind) doesn't suit boys, this from a friend whose little boy was fine in them for the first few weeks but after that the nappy just didn't work (leaking everywhere).

Same with bio/non-bio washing powder... my frineds who have lovely, happy, non-whiney kids (two are midwfies) are the ones who continue making noise after baby has gone to bed, wash with whatever powder is on offer, use talc powder  and use a nappy they can find...afterall the nursery use the nappies they want to use!!!

Obviously the above is not a general rant at those who do stick to do's and dont's ... they are just my observations of the people i know so all i can base it on!!!

I don't mean it like that.. :rotfl: I mean with some brands you'l have poop running down the legs, depending on shape of baby.

Huggies for us leaked pee, constantly. I kept trying them and they just wouldn't work. I wasn't pandering to my son, in fact he never cried and still doesn't when he's wet, but was more pandering to myself on that one, why wash 3 outfits when you can wash one.

Also with wipes, I have heard of some wipes causing really sore blisters on babies little bums, so it'd be silly to continue using them if they do that.

Neither me or my OH have sensitive skin, but baby boys skin has been really sensitive, anything in his bath at all brings him out in a rash and certain bio soap powders do too.

So I don't use any of that stuff not because it's what baby likes, I do it out of necessity really.

The nappies are by the by now anyway for us, as we use re-usables :)

Oh dear, just to reassure you all before somebody calls social services - i will change brands if that happens! lol :rotfl:

Thanks for all your advice re pillows, will have a think. Some of them are ridiculous prices and didn't want to fork out without asking for others' experiences first.

I am supposed to be working until 34+2weeks, but am signed off at the moment thanks to SPD. I worked until 36 with DS, but this time around I have had nothing but problems tbh  and my commute is hearly three times the length it was. Here's hoping the next one is easier...!!

Congrats to LMM and divorcing jack!

Re nappies I am still planning on using real ones. I have got some Huggies, had to buy them to get something else free, and will buy a few more packs as no doubt there will be days when I'm not that organised or we are off out - won't be taking a nappy bin with me! I am going to use off cuts of fabric for wipes as well, I think there is a kit you can get to keep them slightly moist. Will post a link when I buy it.

What is wrong with using talc? DS is 14, feels a lot like I am starting again!

rjh - you get to meet your bubs soon! And you won't be uncomfortable anymore either :D

Re breastfeeding, I don't think mine are much bigger, but my nipples are, and have become darker. I didn't leak beforehand and managed a few weeks. My mum did with my brother and couldn't manage it at all, so that's no indication. I looked at getting implants a few years ago and one of the things that put me off was that they said it usually means you can't breastfeed - maybe speak to your mw or see if there is a support group nearby at SureStart or a children's centre?

I plan to take LO swimming, wasn't sure about the best time though as thought the chlorine might be a bit much for delicate skin. Will have to look into it a bit more.

Edited to say that whole blister bum thing happened to me with DS. The doc said cotton wool and water only at first, no wipes.

You could have no problems at all, we love Pampers Sensitive wipes, it's the only ones we use, but then I know that specific kind caused blisters with another baby  it's all trial and error, I had bought loads of Huggies wipes before he was born, they are decent enough but they don't come out the pack good and once or twice while dealing with an epic poo my fingers have gone through them, so that was the end of those :rotfl: I used the rest for cleaning. They just took up space though. You live and learn though, I know what to do next time :D

Moneypenny the statutory minimum is 20 days excluding bank holidays.

Re: annual leave - I work full time and get 22 days holiday is that lower than statutory minimum? I have to take all my leave before I go on maternity leave so can't decide whether to have the month before off as a full block or cut down days from now until then. Depends how much I can work at home I guess, I'll have to chat to work and see what they say.

The minimum can be made up with bank holidays. So if you get 22 days annual leave and get 8 bank holidays, that is 30 days, so over the minimum.

Luckily we get 25 days & 9 bank hols, so 34 in total and I have been allowed to carry over as many as I want and can cash them in while on maternity leave. A good think too because I only get SMP.

CL what happens with your work and bank holidays whilst you are off then? Do you get to add them to your holiday entitlement so you have 34 days in total? My work told me I lose the bank holidays because I am off anyway so benefit from them. I get 25 days annual leave plus bank hols but I only accrue the 25 days whilst I am off.
