Fluff Freddie is gorgeous and thanks for sharing your birth story.

Chrissy - I don't know what's wrong with your heart, but I have a heart condition from childhood and I'm not allowed either a home birth or small unit. I have to be in a main hospital, as the risks of something going wrong are higher and they need the experienced staff at hand.

It is great when you hear the heartbeat for the first time Rups, glad you were able to hear it. I can remember panicking as it took ages for my consultant to find it the first time.

I was bored at the kids soft play this morning, so I've actually sat down for the first time and written a list of bits to buy for baby. I'm kind of shocked now I've done it, I didn't think I'd need too much this time. I'm really wishing we'd kept something from when my kids were babies, but we literally got rid of everything. It's definitely time to sort out a budget and plan for the little bits that I can start getting soon.

I'm going to admit to being a bit of an ignoramus here, but what are the benefits of a water birth?

I know that if I don't have to have a c-section, I want an active birth..I suppose I am hoping that moving about will get things moving more and gravity will assist. But the new birthing section at the hospital has a birthing pool, so this is an option. Home birth is a no go because of previous c-section.

I suppose I am worried as well that a. I will have to be completely naked - no thanks, although I am sure I will have other things to worry about..and b. what if I do a poo by accident in it :rotfl:I mean it does happen doesn't it? Unless you have a colonic, but tbh I'm not keen on the idea. Lesser of two evils I guess.

My sister did a poo in the bath once when we were both in it  our dad had to fish it out! We were only tots, just in case you were wondering!

KatyLiz - It's nothing serious with my heart, just palpitations which upon investigation means I have to have a procedure after the baby is born to fix it. They'll put a catheter from my groin up to my heart and burn away the bad cells. I'm still a low-risk pregnancy but the midwives are aware the cardiologist might need to be called. So that's why I'm thinking it's not even worth thinking about the unit and just planning for the normal labour ward.

Rups - when I dream of people I've lost I like to think it's them visiting me to support me when I need them. Hugs.

Well I just took an inventory of all the baby clothes and stuff I've got and OMG I'm shocked, didn't think I had that much! Have updated my list for Kiddicare!

Taadaa - I understand that the warmth and pressure from the water should support you during contractions and help with the pain. You can still wear a bikini top in the pool, they don't recommend normal clothes like a t-shirt as it sticks to the skin and can make you feel cold.

As for the poo - I've heard the midwife has a little net and will scoop it out without anyone realising!

fluff - thanks for the labour description and the amazing pics!

jen - I asked this question during my antenatal classes whether I could refuse forceps (they totally terrify me!). The MW said yes, I can refuse forceps/venthouse and ask for cs instead.

Rebekah - not sure about layers of blankets but did read optimal temperature for the baby is 16-20c and that higher temperature can increase risk of cot death.

I must have been lucky with the Next sale. Got to the store at about 10 and there were plenty baby clothes left. Spent £28 but could've easily spent more but was careful not to buy too much. Bought mainly 3-6m and 6-9m things. All half price :)

Popped into M&S too but they only had a few bits for boys and none of them caught my eye. Saw the most cute sleepsuits though but £10 for 2 so didn't get them.

Had lots of cramps yesterday after the sweep which stopped in the early evening. Then cramps most of the night and nothing since morning. Went for a long walk and I am hoping they will start soon again.

Fluff, Freddie is totally adorable :j Many many congratuIlations xxx

Just quick note about forceps: I was always dead against an assisted delivery and put that in my birth plan, although more on the lines as I would prefer not to have one if possible. After pushing for two-three hours (and having been induced on Wednesday - this was now Saturday) the consultant said forceps were needed as I was just unable to manage anymore. All my past thoughts went out of the window - I just wanted the baby out! I choose not to look at them (which I think helped). Yes, delivery was bloody painful but then I think it would have been regardless. The consultant was very skilled and it was over quickly. Joseph had two slight red marks on his face but they were gone the next day. I was sore from having to have an epistomy cut (which I needed for the forceps - unsure if this is standard) for about a week - but I weigh that up with I may have teared anyway. So all in all, the forceps bit was nowhere near the worst part of my labour experience! Hope this reassures someone xx

bad dreams - dreamt Moon was cheating on me (not true at all btw just felt real), so woke up really angry with him in the middle of the night. lol

I had a similar dream about my OH and had to explain why I was so off with him this morning. It was just so real :p

Went to the Matalan sale today and managed to get a few bits however it appears all the things I chose weren't in the sale. Oops still got a few bits that OH and I needed.

My hip was playing up though so didn't get to see any of the other sales despite Mothercare being next door.
