Fluff - congrats on the arrival of freddie, he looks so grown up already, lovely blanket as well.

Chrissy - how did trip to kiddicare go? yay for being on mat leave, i had my last day at work friday too :)

Robyn297 - sounds like you are having a home water birth - how exciting. i am hoping to have a water birth at local hospital.

As others have already said even though a suggestion may be made by a doctor/midwife you can refuse to take them up on this suggestion. or sometimes its a good idea to ask if you can have some time to think it over.

i am amazed at the amount of inductions that are offered to healthy mums and babys - a year or so ago they wouldnt do a sweep will you were 42 weeks pregnant, now they seem to offer them over 40 weeks. just remember its your body and you choose what happens to is. there is evidence to suggest unatural beginning of labour tends to result in further interventions ie forceps/c section

my hypnotherpy birthing CD arrived today, i will now be listening to it everyday until baby comes - although this could be any time!! eekk!

waterbirth - it helps with relaxation and pain (to a certain degree) also my daisy birthday teacher said she liked it as baby got a quick wash before being put on for skin to skin :) cute

Well I'm off work now! I had a nice day yesterday with flowers and another card and lunch bought for me, and then I got evicted at 2.30pm! Felt really strange saying goodbye to everyone. Got home and burst into tears!
I did the same!! Although I work from home lol. When I logged out and went down stairs I just sat there and had a little blubber. It was such an ending as I know I probably won't be going back - so final!

Rebekah - not sure about layers of blankets but did read optimal temperature for the baby is 16-20c and that higher temperature can increase risk of cot death.
I know :o Our house is warm unless I leave her downstairs but your are meant to have them in your room for first 6 months. Lesser of 2 evils I guess. Don't really know what to do about it.

I got a really good guide in one of my freebie leaflets that sys for what temperature what bedding u should have on. I kept it just in case even tho we using sleeping bags. Do u want me to
Scan it and email it to you? If so pm me ur email
Yea I got the guide in a cot death booklet. I was just wondering what those particular blankets counted as 2 layers or 1. I'm guessing 2 ... guess best to err on side of caution. Does yours say 1 sheet and 1 blanket at 21-24c?

    Aww Fluff what a cutie!

We went to Next sale, got a set of neutral bodysuits and some sleepsuits. Plus a biscuit jar - got my priorities sorted!

Also went to M&S - very disappointing. Really wanted the reversible jacket but they barely had anything. Same with Matalan - nothing neutral. Would've been far easier if we knew whether baby was a boy or girl! Oh well, will hopefully benefit from the next load of sales.

Ooh has anyone bought a waterproof mattress protector? I have an ebay voucher and have found one I can get for free. Do I need it?

Yes rebekah that's what mine says. Personally I find it a whole hassle and far too much washing hence why I bought the sleeping bags. Because as well as temperature of room and blankets etc u need to consider what they are dressed in too.

Yes I would advise a waterproof protector just for potential leaks etc. I always put protector and two sheets on
love you lots like jelly tots :o

rjh - My midwife told me last week I only need to watch for 10 separate movements a day (ie not 10 quick kicks in a row, but separate times). I wouldn't panic, just keep an eye on things and get checked out if you get really worried.

Mine said this too, which stopped me from panicking after a quiet few days!

    Hello,

we've finally finished the nursery stickers:

The first two are on the same wall but the room is too small for me to get far enough away to fit them on one picture.

    Gorgeous baby boy Fluffnutter, congratulations!

Clarissa, I often feel the baby move after I've eaten too, guess it gives him hardly any room so he protests! Last night baby was going crazy though, must have kicked/punched solidly for about 20 mins, plus I had stomach cramps at the same time. I thought it might be an indication that my (or rather, his) time was near, but seem to be back to normal this morning. Went for a swim earlier with my husband, hoping that a bit of exercise will do something!

Re. baby gyms, we were given one among all the other stuff from my former work colleague, have to admit I had no idea what it was supposed to be and as it takes up a lot of space and looks a bit grubby we've already put it in bin bags and will put it in the loft as soon as the landing is free from all the stuff out of the baby room (my husband is decorating it). I think baby will be plenty entertained without the gym, but obviously not trying to knock any new ones people have bought for their babies!

Re. moses basket, my mum bought us some lovely bedding called 'Precious Bear' from Mothercare that is specifically for the moses basket. It's not really thick but fleecy and came with a cover for the moses mattress. I doubt baby will need too much more than that at the moment as well as wearing a babygrow. I've got a couple of baby sleeping bags too from JoJo Maman Bebe, a lightweight one and a warmer one, but even though they're supposed to be for 0–6 months I think they might be too big for a newborn.

Rebekah, I'm sure if you've got a thermometer in the room so you can monitor the temperature you need not worry. We got the Angelcare AC401 baby monitor from Mothercare online the other day and it has a built-in temperature gauge.
