At what point have people washed their cot bedding and put it on? Don't want to do it too early as I don't want it to get dusty if I go overdue.0

Savage, I too have been looking everywhere for nice storage boxes. Quite like the fabric ones, they had some in Matalan last time we went but for some strange reason I decided to shop around and didnt buy them!
Bikelesschick, Im also going to the mothercare event later. You in Doncaster? Cant remember if it was me that mentioned the baby shower, but my Auntie is throwing me one on 8th Sept. I'll be 30 weeks then but didnt want to leave it much longer than that in case babies decided to come early! Apparently my Auntie has been buying bits for the shower since before I was 12wk. No idea what she could find to buy for all these weeks!:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -
I'd check with your mw about the swaddling. In our area at least they advise against it for sleeping as there has been some research suggesting it can be related to SIDS. The NW however does have the highest/one of the highest SIDS rates in the country so they might be being over cautious.
Sounds like rubbish again to me, I've had a very quick google and it seems a baby who is swaddled and lying on their stomach will have higher SIDS risk, where a baby who is swaddled and lying on their back has lower SIDS risk. And we knew that we shouldn't put babies on their stomachs anyway. The only study to link SIDS and swaddling was non-peer reviewed.
I can imagine that if the baby is overheated while swaddled though that could be a factor.

Morning ladies,
Still trying to catch up after being on holiday for a couple of weeks. However, I need to ask a question. Last night I woke up and felt a bit damp and I can only assume I had wet myself a bit. I went to the toilet and sorted myself out then went back to bed. I was v.embarrassed but my lovely DH just said "don't worry, it will happen" then pulled me towards him for a cuddle. But I am just wondering if this is normal? I might understand it more if I was more heavily pg but I am only 17w.

Morning All,
such a lovely sunny day here : )
MW check yesterday was great, saw another different MW but def the best so far. She was very thorough and asked lots of Q's. I have been booked in for the birthing unit and babys head is 3/5 engaged which she explained had been the cause of my feeling so unwell as my body makes more hormonal changes as baby engages and she thinks i had a 'blip' imbalance as well as a poss mild virus that appear to have gone completly now.
everything else was as normal and heartbeat was very loud and clear. OH came with me yesterday as I have felt undervalued at last app but we were both realy pleased with all the info given and attention she gave to feeling and checking baby.
Only worry is she commented on how neat and nice my bump is and then went on to comment how it was 'ALL BABY' i hope this doesnt mean she will be too big.
Bellola enjoy your last day at work
Mothercare event went to local one last night and it was a bit quieter then i was expecting but the bag of freebies was worth it, we got 2 hats, 2 packs of breast pads, an avent baby lotions samples set and a pack of wipes. bought some reduced price bibs with the 10% voucher as we dont need much now but didnt have any bibs.
Have a lovely day everyone, Hugs and Labour Vibes to all who need them xRachel

Like I said its only the recommendation in my area and I think they are more cautious because of the higher rate of SIDS in this area. Either way they were very clear that they strongly recommend against it.
Who knows this baby rearing business is a minefield!

Sorry, I'll try stop now on the statsistical analysis, it's just I did enough stats at university to get a prettty good grounding in sniffing out the rubbish from the perhaps not so rubbish, and most medical stats are not great due to various problems with medical research which I won't bore you with0
