    Morning all,

Well food is obviously something that many of us hold dearly at the moment. :) I must admit that I've had a dippy egg or two in this country after having been told on here a while back about the lion stamp for salmonella vaccination; however, I'm not so sure what the vaccination procedures are in Italy where Rups is going, and I know they're probably more likely to use the completely raw eggs in their tiramisus and mousses, hence the warning.

I hadn't even thought about the McDonald's milkshakes etc, but tbh I've not been there the entire pregnancy anyway (rarely went pre-pregnancy either as our nearest is slightly out of town now and being veggie, I don't go there often).

Still haven't put our wall stickers up in the nursery yet. Must get Moon to dust down the walls first, and then we can put them up together - hopefully we'll be able to do them tomorrow.

Don't know what's happened to the sunny weather we've been promised on the forecast - it was rainy and overcast all day yesterday, and is very cloudy out there at the moment. Was hoping to get a bit of washing on the line, but worried that it'll rain. At what point have people washed their cot bedding and put it on? Don't want to do it too early as I don't want it to get dusty if I go overdue. I'm 33+4 today. Have washed a lot of the second-hand baby clothes as they are in drawers so protected from dust.

Hugs to all who need or want them, and labour vibes where appropriate.

SM is baby going straight into cot then? Ours is going into moses basket 1st. We have washed all the bedding and it's folded in drawers at the mo. Won't put it on til baby comes home I doubt. But that's more because we have so many cats and cat fluff everywhere so I want it to be as pristine as possible!

Last day at work today. So excited. Tomorrow will be weird though. I'm planning on packing my box this morning, giving my colleagues a handover of anything outstanding then we are going for a pub lunch and that's about the extent of what I'm going to do all day!

Hubby's already out in the garden. He's just finished laying some decking which looks lovely so it's now being swept and then the grass cut then the furniture can go back. Then I can have 4 weeks of lazing in the garden doing naff all. Yeah right!

Yes we were planning on putting the baby straight into the cot, as we don't have a moses basket, but my Mum questioned this the other day too, so don't know if we'll get a moses basket now or not. We hadn't bothered as we thought he'd grow out of it so quickly, but my Mum is concerned that the huge space will alarm him. We will be using a sleeping bag for him, so don't know if this will help.

Surely if he goes straight into the cot then he won't know any different? Whereas with ours it will be more problematic going from moses basket to cot. I'm anticipating that baby will only fit into moses basket til around Xmas time then we will have to start the transition. We just got one so that we could have it in our room for a few months and then baby will go into the nursery.

Hi SM my LO went into a moses basket and hated it. After a couple of weeks we brought the cot into our room and she slept much better. She seemed to like to stretch her limbs out and the Moses basket was stopping her do that.

Just had a quick google about babies going straight into cots, and it seems that it's ok to do this (some babies will prefer to be swaddled in this situation though). Apparently the baby will most likely want to spend as much time as possible on one of us in the first couple of months, but I don't want to be in a situation where I can't put him down at all. I may invest in one of those soft slings that you can use from newborn, but I also have a baby bouncer for when I'm downstairs that he can be in. Judging by the amount he wriggles and stretches inside me, I'm not sure he'll be bothered with more space either - I guess we'll just have to see when he arrives.

    Morning all,

I think there are two reasons for Moses baskets, 1) being smaller a lot of people find it easier to have them in their rooms with them than a cot which takes up more space. 2) a lot (not all) babies struggle to settle in a big cot after the confines of the uterus.
I'd check with your mw about the swaddling. In our area at least they advise against it for sleeping as there has been some research suggesting it can be related to SIDS. The NW however does have the highest/one of the highest SIDS rates in the country so they might be being over cautious.
I know. Of some people who's babies wouldn't sleep unless swaddled so it's all conflicting stuff as usual!

    Happy 35 weeks LMM :)

My back (where my spine meets my pelvis) has taken to making a lovely cracking sound every time I turn over in bed! Might explain why I'm having more pain :undecided

I won't be on much between tomorrow to Sunday evening as I have a busy weekend. I will try to update the list but if someone could update any new babies/ new pg ladies I'd be most grateful :)

    xx
