Exciting Laura! Hope you're having Mummy cuddles very soon. Oh, and regarding OH's work - they are being !!!!!!! They have no right to expect him to come in whilst he is on paternity leave - it is a legal right that people have fought for and he should be able to stay off. My DH said he may do the same thing, and I told him if he tried to, the baby and I would be off!
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Good Luck Jedi hope things move quickly for you now.

I know what you mean about telling OH too soon we cant decide at what point i tell him because if he is at work he would come home at the first sign yet could take allday or longer to progress wasting a day paternity leave, he is also worried that he doesnt like the thought of me keeping it from him untill he comes home from work so we dont know what we will do yet but better make up our minds soon x

    ooh Laura, that is exciting.

I know my OH would be called straight away but then I laboured quickly previously and will want him there. But you can see what the Labour ward say and when your contractions start.

Good luck hope you get your cuddles very soon.:j

  • Morning ladies!
Whoo Laura how exciting! Was it a gush or a trickle? Like you said they'll want you to go in so may as well be sure and get a few last minute things done before you toddle in. So excited for you!
I'm used to 'debating' with drs so they won't be booking anything for me unless I'm happy hehe. Although pregnancy/gynae/labour is not at all in my normal area of care I'm used to drs and their liking of getting involved in things. Although by then I might be desparate to get things going!
Griggsy happy due date to you!
KatyLiz hope your son is ok at the drs
MMM good luck for your appt at the midwife
Dizsie all I know about it is that their girl was born on Saturday. I'm the same, I don't want to know how and why as I don't want to start thinking about what could go wrong. I'm doing quite well feeling positive about bubba popping out and us all living happily ever after. That makes me sounds selfish probably, but extra worrying won't do us any good :( and
Emsbet I'm trying to hide on fb but it's constantly popping up on everyone's page :( my FIL has a hog roast thing on his BBQ that turns the meat around....maybe something like that would be good ;)
    :j happy 35 weeks to you :)
Aida I could be wrong here but the 1 in 8 statistic of epidurals not working correctly doesn't mean that something awful went wrong. I've heard for some people they just aren't effective even when they're put in correctly. Same with other painkillers work great for one and won't be at all effective for the next.

Just had a text from OH. His work friend's partner is due any day now and she's just phoned their work to say her waters have gone! I'm like omg all these people that are ahead of me are actually having their babies  OH is feeling a bit nervous too now, in a few weeks it'll be me ringing and him hurrying off!
Sold a few bits on eBay at the weekend so must get those parcelled and sent today. I'm going to attempt to pack my hospital bag. It's making me feel very nervous thinking about it, but at almost 35 weeks I think it needs doing.

Wishing lots of labour vibes to those wanting/needing them. Hugs to those needing them too. Have a good day xx

if i get any contractions i will be on the phone to him :) he has a 30 min bike ride to get home and we have about a 10 min car journey to hospital.

not sure whether i should be rotating to dilate like we have learnt in yoga class eeekkk:) or whether i should wait for first contractions. i know if you dont go into labour within 24 hours of your waters breaking they will want to intervene to get things going.

My DH's work have known my due date since 15 weeks, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to them. They've been good about letting him have time off for scans etc, but all of my midwife appointments have fallen on his day off which is lucky. They are a small family firm, and rely very heavily on my DH to cover holidays and sickness and travel to their other branches because of this, so I'm hoping that when the day comes, that he won't be at a branch that's miles away (one is 40 minutes' drive away). My DH worries about his job constantly as they are such a small company, and goes over and above his duties all the time (he rarely has a proper lunch-break, and often starts early and finishes late). Annoys me greatly, particularly now!

Aida- the 1 in 8 statistic for epidurals is it 'not working well enough to reduce labour pain so you need to use other ways of lessening the pain' (according to my pamphlet).
Also 1 in 50 of having a 'significant drop in blood pressure' (and my blood pressure is low anyway!)
1 in 20 of it not being strong enough for a caesar so they need to knock you out completely, and
    1 in 100 'severe headache'.

Anything else on the 'risk' list is less chance than 1 in 1000.
