MMM, I know what you mean. Work has started to wind me down already (even though I'm only 23+5!) which is fine but we've got new things coming in that I know I would be great at. Also, one of my colleagues has recently handed in his notice and if I wasn't pregnant that job would be mine (it's a team leader position) but I'm not even going to be considered for it. I understand why, but it's a bit annoying in terms of timing.
My tummy feels very heavy today, it's odd because I don't feel heavier generally, just a bit more pressure on my hips and back.
Does anyone else have really annoying insomnia? I'm exhausted by the time I go to bed, go to sleep absolutely fine... then wake up at 4.30am and doze until my alarm goes off. It's Very Annoying! I'm not sure if it's because it's getting light or because of Wriggler having a party in my tummy. I was speaking to a friend of my sister's on FB who is a new mum, and she said that her nighttime wriggles cooincided with when the baby needed feeding overnight. I'm not looking forward to 4.30am feeds!
Also, I'm wearing a maternity dress today. It feels like a tent. To be fair, I'm mainly wearing it because my other dresses (which still fit over the bump) are a lot shorter and I'm boycotting tights as they make my legs and bum extremely itchy by the end of the day (like, wriggle on my seat while I'm driving, LEAP out of the car, rip them off in the hallway itchy). It's really hot. DH finds it hugely entertaining.0 -

Does that make me cold? I don't mean to sound cold, just not sure it would be good for me to read about it?
I don't think that makes you cold and I completely understand you not wanting to read about it. I saw first about it on fb. I've hidden all stories/statuses about in fb as they've popped up and I won't be reading any news articles on it as I know I will just get myself into a state about it.
Rups, I'm glad your scan went well. Have you peaked in the envelope yet?
Kitten, mini cub's nursery area looks lovely
Moneypuddle, I'm glad you have been to the GP. Take the time off and don't worry about work. I think they can only make you take maternity if you are on sick leave in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy.
Sa-ra-ra-ra, I've never been the best sleeper anyway but now I think I spend as much time awake as I do asleep. My typical night is bed about 11:30/12 wake up every 30mins/hours to turn over or my hips get too sore. I'll get up and go to the loo maybe 3/4 times, sometimes I don't really need to go but I need to get up and move around to ease the pain in my hips. About 3/3:30 I wake up hungry, so I have a snackand sit up for 30mins- an hour again to make my hips feel better, then I try and sleep until DH goes to work but again have to turn over often. I'm like a bl00dy hog roast turning over and over :rotfl:

yup, I wake up at 1.30 and about 5.30 EVERY night. I also have crazy dreams which can be scary and not very nice, so I wake up unsettled and need to calm myself down before going back to sleep again. I don't feel at all rested when I wake up. It dawned on me yesterday I'm not going to get a decent night's sleep for YEARS now. Yikes!0 -
Aida, at the post-20 week scan I got given a pamphlet on pain relief and one of the stats was that 1 in 8 epidurals donn't work correctly so that might be related to what you've heard.my friend put me off from having an epidural
for some reason it numbed her arms aswell so she couldnt hold her baby after she was born
Toni if I don't feel much, then I'm happy with that side effect :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Good luck Gillybean :j:j:j
Re PLUG: We have a plug in our cervix that comes out _pale_?!?!?!?! No comment. Pregnancy is not as glamourous as I expected :rotfl:The epidural went in at 11am and was great no feeling to start with but as afternoon went on I was feeling the contractions on my left lower abdomen ... Midwife topped it up but it wore off again by 5pm, so anaesthetist had to come back and give me some stronger stuff but again this only lasted a couple of hours before i was feeling contractions again. I couldn't get anaesthetist back for another top up at 9pm when I needed it as he was in theatre and the shot of milder stuff that midwives can give wasn't having any effect so was back to gas and air!
I'd still do it all again tomorrow and it's not put me off having another epidural.
rjh090384 Hope you will give birth soon then. Goooood luck:D
Hugs for the money problems.
mishkanorman You made me laught :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
Kitten_Pie :j for your scan and for your beautiful nursery.
Rups32 I'm so glad that you're baby is OK :j:j:j...and also that you have the opportunity to find out the sex, if you want to. One day left and I'm a little bit nevous.
Milliebob Are Gina Ford's books any good?

My hips are feeling quite sore the past couple of mornings. Find myself needing oh to push me out of bed lol. Wee man is being super active since a bit of naughty time this morning lol. Either Taft or he is reacting to noise of big sister playing about the house.
I'm super tired today but not feeling too bad. Looking forward to oh being off work tomorrow

savage - my original due date was 5th Aug - they brought me forward 6 days when they scanned me.
little miss moneysaver - re induction - policy is that if this is your first baby you will be offered a sweep a day over your due date, if not successful then they offer another at 41 weeks, then they will book you for induction at 12 days over your due date (which could be in the form of pessary/gel/tablet of hormones to go in your vagina). if this doesnt work in 48 hours i think they then move onto breaking waters and sytocin (?sp) drip.
you must be really clear what you want as the sweep and induction wasnt actually offered to me, i was told you will be booked in for a sweep/induction etc - its very unusal for women to refuse these interventions as most people do not know any better they trust the medical profession.
kitten_pie - love the room and it looks like you got the same toysrus deal as we did, i have the same cot, changing mat etc
moneypuddle - glad to hear things are off your chest, it feels better just making people aware of how you are feeling. make sure you do take these sick days if needed and dont feel guilty about it.
rups - re these special pillows, rjn mentioned the dream geni which i looked into getting but there were conflicting reviews, some people found them great, some didnt. throughout my pregnancy i have needed to chop and change where i have supported myself with pillows. i use just 3 normal old pillows. oringally i needed one inbetween legs, one wedged into back and one in front but the past month i have only used one in front to support bump.
Laura:jMarried 16/07/2010, ds1 born 11/08/12, baby due 08/05/20150 -
both me and DH have been feeling shaky on our feelings to refuse induction as i found myself pretty stressed yesterday after my midwife appt. my DH is also getting hassle from his boss about when i will have the baby as other people have holiday booked off. he even agreed to go in one morning because they had no one to cover if he was on paternity leave - left me feeling a bit angry with his work.
anyway...i actually noticed my first braxton hicks yesterday, i was sitting with hands on belly and it went or hard and a weird shape. this happened a few times in bed this morning as well.
plus i think my waters broke this morning about 8am...i am pretty sure, leaked quite a bit of fluid this morning and still leaking a bit on a pad - no pains or contractions yet.
i havent called the hospital or told my DH. i know if i call the hospital they will want me in to check and i will have to get DH out of work, they will probably check me over and send me home. havent told DH as i dont think there is a need for him to come home yet and i dont want him sitting worrying at work.
just doing last few things around house getting bags packed and will prob ring hospital and tell DH mid day.
the waters were a straw colour with no horrible bits so they seemed healthy.
hopefully this means i will be going into labour soon at 40+8:T
